With February 14th rocking its sweet behind towards us, here are some Valentine's Day money saving tips for you. Hope they help. It's never too late to start putting some money aside for the big day, unless, erm, it's like a day before Valentine's Day. Even if you have a week left, maybe you could save a portion of funds everyday so that come Val. Day, you have something set aside for it and have something to work with. In addition to that, at the end of each day, perhaps you could have a rummage through any change you may have and pick out the lowest denominators, which could then go into the kitty for Valentine's Day. Got any items lying around that you really don't need? Did you get any presents for Xmas that you don't want? Then consider giving them a new home by selling them on eBay or Amazon. Don't underestimate what people out there are willing to buy. What you don't want is exactly what someone else might be looking for. You could also visit charity or vintage shops, look around for items to buy and sell them (hopefully for profit) on eBay or Amazon. Maybe you could give a portion of any profits you make to the charity you bought the items from? Just an idea. Are you a smoker? Well, could you buy two or three less packs a week? Not only would you be saving money for Valentine's Day, but you'd be doing something good for you health-wise. The same thing could go for chocolates, wine, biscuits, take-aways, magazines, etc. I'm not saying you should completely give these things up, that decision's up to you --- but you could save quite a bit and would be catching two birds with one stone (saving money, plus having money to celebrate Val. Day). Rather than buy a Valentine's Day poem or love letter, consider writing one. Instead of buying a card, create one. It's extra special and more unique.
Times have been trying for lots of us financially. There's no denying that. However, it's still possible to have a fabulous Valentine's Day by saving towards it a bit at a time. Oh and p.s., these Valentine's Day money saving tips are really not just for February 14th. It's a method of saving that you can apply to other things you might need funds for: a pair of shoes, a holiday, for Mother's Day, etc.
