For the next six weeks, I am going to try the weight loss formula I set out in my previous post on how to get thin in six weeks. Starting today, I am going to do exactly what is outlined in that post and then, in six weeks time, I will report my results. I may give an intermediate progress report, but if I do, it will not report results in terms of weight loss. That's because I am not going to weigh myself, after today, for the next six weeks. So my current weight is: 209 lbs (94.8kg) or 14st 13 lbs in old money, so to speak and this is the heaviest I have ever been in my life, so it is a good time to start. I have only dieted once before, seriously. That was about fifteen years ago. At that time, my starting weight was 14st 9 lbs (205 lbs, 93 kg) and I eventually lost exactly two stones (28 lbs, 12.7 kg). The diet I followed that enabled me to lose that weight consisted of red and green days. On a red day, you could eat as much meat as you wished and on a green day you could pretty-much eat all the carbs (with certain exceptions) you wanted. There were rules for the other things that made up the diet. The weight loss was slow and steady and I felt that I was eating more healthily when I was on that diet. The problem came after I had lost the weight because, in the process of adjusting to what I considered to be a normal diet, my body decided that it should put on an extra two stones to cope. The thing was that I had become bored with eating certain things during the six months it took to lose the weight. In fact, even today, fifteen years later, I still cannot look a baked potato in the eye. What's different about the plan on this occasion is that I don't intend to change my eating habits very much at all, so I think that part of it should work out ok. What I intend to do to lose the weight is to address the things mentioned in the above article: Stop Drinking Fizzy Drinks The E Word Your Five a Day Drink More Water Program Your Mind for Success Stop Weighing Yourself Now, as it turns out, I don't really drink fizzy drinks very much at all, so for me, it will be the other things on the list that will be responsible for making the difference. I am going to exercise every day for the next six weeks and, in addition, I am going to follow the remainder of the advice on eating fruit and vegetables and drinking plenty of water. Finally, I am going to make use of positive affirmations for programming my mind.

Six weeks from now is mid-December, so that's when I will next get on the scales. Will this work? Well, of course, I don't know, but we'll see in six weeks time. If it does work, I am confident that it is a living plan that I can continue and that, I think, is an important key to keeping the weight off once it has gone. One last thing: as someone pointed out when I last wrote about this idea, your doctor's advice should always come first especially if you are suffering from a medical condition. That said, do you want to get thin in time for Christmas? Well, why not join me for the next six weeks?
