2013 F-100 Western Nationals Friday Cruise - DON’T MISS OUT The Friday Cruise has become a must do for those regulars at the F-100 Western Nationals. Each year we visit some of the more interesting auto related spots in Southern California while doing some great sightseeing at the same time. This year is no different. Look what we have planned for you: STOP #1 - DETAILING.com - Started by professional auto detailers, for
detailers, DETAILING.com offers the industry’s best products including detailing and car care products from Meguiars, Mothers, 3M, Menzerna, Einszett, Sonax, Swissvax, Zymol, 303, Lake Country, Adams, Stoner, Surf City Garage, Aero, SM Arnold, Flex, Mytee and many more. You name it and they have it IN STOCK! Tons of microfiber products from one end to the other. They will present a FREE 45 minute polishing/buffing seminar and special discounts will be available to our group. You can check them out at www.detailing.com
STOP #2 - KNOLWOOD Restaurant IRVINE - Fifty years ago the husband and wife team of Roy and Fay Knowlton, together with Gene Wood, started
a restaurant called Knowl-Wood at the old Orangewood Ranch in what is now the city of Anaheim Hills in Orange County, California. The homemade quality of the food and downright friendly service quickly became a trademark. Before the 91-Riverside Freeway was built, Knowlwood was a favorite stopping point along the old Imperial Highway, a popular orange-grove dotted route to get through the county. The “Home of the World’s Best HamburgerTM” was frequently referred to by locals as simply the “World’s Best.” The Irvine location features a historic Blacksmith Shop within the restaurant. www.knowlwoodrestaurants.com
STOP #3 - MARCONI AUTOMOTIVE MUSEUM - Dick Marconi, came to California from Gary, Indiana in the late 50’s. Armed with an MBA, and a young family, he made the trek across the US to arrive in Southern California where he embarked with passion, on a career developing and manufacturing custom made vitamins, weight loss products and supplements. Along the way, Dick developed his life’s mantra which is “learn, earn, and return.” Throughout his life he has maintained that belief and in so doing, founded the Marconi Automotive Museum & Foundation for Kids in 1994. Always a great car enthusiast, Dick amassed a wonderful collection of high performance street cars and race cars, over the years. In founding the Marconi Automotive Museum and Foundation for Kids, the goal of helping to raise one million dollars annually for various at-risk children’s charities has been achieved by using the car collection as a special event venue as well as producing annual events on its behalf. Mr. Marconi himself plans to give us a tour of this fabulous collection. There is a $5 per person donation for the tour which should last a little over one hour. www.marconimuseum.org STOP #4 - ASTOR CLASSICS MUSEUM & EVENT CENTER - Art Astor is the owner, President and CEO of the Inland Empire’s KSPA AM 1510 (softer side of the ‘60’s, ‘70’s, and ‘80’s) and North San Diego’s KFSD AM 1450 (classical) and KCEO AM 1000 (financial news and talk). Art is a veteran of over 50 years in Southern California broadcasting. Art’s automobiles are his second passion, radio being the first love of his life, with some 270 cars now in his collection. The classics range from Packards to Pontiacs, Morgans to Mustangs, several Jaguars, Rolls Royces, and Howard Hughes’ 1940 Cadillac Formal Town Sedan, to name just a few. Each of Art’s cars is special in some way: perhaps it is a rare vehicle, or has an interesting history, or reminds Art of some special event in his own life. Every car is a “driver,” and Art takes each one out for a spin every few weeks. Additionally, Art has created a museum which houses the world’s largest collection of working and beautifully restored antique telephones and radios. He has wonderful collections of model trains, gas pumps, antique slot machines, pedal cars, movie memorabilia and other interesting “stuff.” Mr. Astor himself plans to give us a tour of this unique collection that is normally not opened to the public. There is a $10 per person donation for the tour which should last a little over one hour and cold drinks will be served.
