New Beginnings
Rev. Elizabeth Gilbert Philippians 3:12-14 There are two ways to think about packing for a trip. One is to pack light, taking only the essentials so that you can move quickly and freely. If you’ve left something important behind, you’ll make due or pick it up on the way. The other is to pack for every eventuality, taking everything you know you’ll need and everything you think might need. You want to be comfortable and sure to have every thing you desire at hand. It might make travel a bit slower and more cumbersome, but you won’t lack for anything or will you? What are you taking with you into this new year? Are you maybe carrying more stuff than you need? While it might be a difficult habit to develop, traveling light with Jesus makes the journey easier. Forget what you’ve left behind and move into the new year with less baggage. You’ll cover a lot more ground and find the travel easier!

e are so glad to welcome you to worship this morning!
If you are new to PUMC, you are invited to stop by the Welcome Center located in the south lobby. A PUMC member is there to answer your questions, and we have a gift for you, too! In Clayton Hall (north end of building) you’ll find refreshments and a place to chat and meet people. Please make yourself at home.
PUMC on Mission in Costa Rica in 2018 A PUMC mission work team will be at Strong Ministries in Costa Rica in 2018 - and you can help! Be a part of touching lives with the love of Jesus Christ in Costa Rica with purchases you may already make. You may purchase gift cards (called scrip for this program) for well known retailers and restaurants through PUMC and support this mission team in the process. You, or your gift recipient, receive the full face value of the gift card, but the mission receives a percentage of your purchase - sometimes as much as 11%! Visit the display in the main lobby today to learn more or purchase gift cards. For more information about this mission trips or additional ways to support the team, please contact coordinators Mike Rohrer or Steve Brizendine through the church office. An additional special promotion is available with Kroger. Visit the display table to learn more and get registered for this ongoing support opportunity.
Get Their Name in February at PUMC February brings another engaging all-church worship and study experience to PUMC. The four-week series, Get Their Name, encourages participants to grow in their faith and invite others to experience the same joy they know in Jesus in ways that are natural, genuine, and easy. Be a part of a small group for this series and learn and grow with others. Signups are this month in the Main Lobby. Groups are scheduled nearly every day of the week in February – there is one that will fit your schedule! A donation of $10 is suggested (but not required) for the participant book. Learn more about resources at the display at PUMC on Sundays in January. You can help make this a formational – and transformational – experience for group participants by leading a small group. To express interest, contact Pastor Ken Loudenback at kloudenback@pumc. org. Orientation for group leaders is on Sundays, January 8 and 15.
Game Day in NewDay, February 5
Th3rd Sunday Lunch Today @ 12:15 p.m.
Sunday, February 5, is game day across America. Invite a friend to NewDay Praise Worship at 9:50 a.m. to hear from some NFL players about their life with Christ, on and off the field.
All are invited to January’s Th3rd Sunday Lunch.
And help make this a ‘souper’ Sunday for some hungry people. Bring canned soup to donate to the local food pantry.
Lunch is served after 11:10 a.m. Classic Worship, about 12:15 p.m., in Clayton Hall. If you are able, please bring a dish to share and join others for food, fellowship, and fun! Tea and lemonade will be provided for everyone and dishes and silverware will be used from the PUMC kitchen.

Giving to God in 2017 It was on November 13, at PUMC’s second Consecration Sunday, that we each answered the question, “What percentage of my income is God calling me to give to his work through the ministry of PUMC?” If the answer to that question calls for a change in your giving now that we have entered 2017, there are several easy ways for you to do that:
• Set-up (or update your) regular
online giving at pumc.org or via SecureGive on your mobile device.
• Phone Brenda Barnett in the church office to set up ACH (automatic withdrawal from your bank account), 317.839.2319, ext. 227.
• Give in person in worship on Sundays or anytime in the church office.
