READY
They are always ready. Any time. Any place. Their bumper sticker may say, “Ask us about our Grandchildren”, but you don’t have to ask. A twinkle emerges in their eyes when something in the conversation provides an opportunity to share the current images and stories of the activities and triumphs of their grandchildren. Their hearts are full of love for those little ones. We talk about those things that have filled our lives— our thoughts and awareness. For those whose hearts are full of the love of Christ, we are just as ready to talk about the activities and triumphs of our Lord in our daily lives. What has your life prepared you to talk about?

* Welcome & Greeting * Hymn of Praise 580 Lead On, O King Eternal * Call to Worship Leader: Come and hear, all you who fear God. Listen to one another as you tell what God has done. People: God has listened to our prayers in steadfast love. Leader: Have no fear, and do not be troubled; the Spirit of truth dwells in you. People: God is never far from us; the Holy Spirit gives us life. Leader: Bless God, all peoples; let praise be heard. God has brought us to this time and place. All: In Christ we live and move and have our being. In Christ we are made whole. Amen! Anthem I Will Pray for You Debbie Proctor, Soprano Scripture Red Pew Bible 911 Acts 26:24-32 Message Ready Rev. Charlie Wilfong Hymn of Response 156 I Love to Tell the Story I love to tell the story of Jesus’ love for me. Of all the things I’ve known, it’s ultimately sweet. The story is not over, God loves me every day. And that’s why I’m so blessed to share with you today. I love to tell the story, will be my theme in glory, To tell you all the stories of Jesus’ love for me.
I hope you tell the stories of Jesus’ love for you. It is the only thing that you can know is true. And when you bravely tell it, you’ll join with all of these Whose telling of their stories has truly set them free. We love to share our stories, will be eternal glory, To tell out all the stories of Jesus’ love for us
“My Dear Friend,” by Brazilian percussionist, composer, and educator Ney Rosauro, is a lyrical piece written for vibraphone. Listen reflectively for the lovely melody flowing in juxtaposition to the accompaniment, both transparent in character. The vibraphone was developed in 1927 from an earlier instrument know as a vibraharp. It is a cousin to the marimba, xylophone, and glockenspiel. The bars on all these instruments are arranged in the same pattern as a piano keyboard and are struck with mallets to produce their sound. Because of resonator tubes under each bar and a sustaining pedal, the “vibe” sound lasts longer. To play several notes simultaneously, two or three mallets are held in each hand as you will see if you watch today’s musician carefully.

Pastoral Prayer The Lord’s Prayer 895 Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Giving Because God gives, we give. Thank you for your generosity. Offertory Jesus Loves Me arr. Chad Floyd * Hymn for Parting 593 Here I Am, Lord * Dismissal & Blessing * Postlude My Dear Friend Ney Rosauro
Good morning and welcome to worship! The post-sermon hymn today, originally penned by Katherine Hankey in 1866, has new words. Using the tune HANKEY, written by William G. Fischer in 1869, Pastor Charlie has written a new text emphasizing themes from our study series, “Get Their Name” which concludes today.
Vibraphones are found in many musical organizations but really came into their own during the 1930-40’s in jazz music. Well known vibraphonists include Lionel Hampton, Milt Jackson, Tito Puente, and Cal Tjader. Consider coming forward during the postlude to get a better view of the guest musician playing the vibraphone – we especially encourage families with children to get a closer look.
I love to tell the story, it seems each time I do, The burdens of this world fall off of me and you. So listen very closely and watch for all the ways Each loving grace of God embraces you today. I love to tell the story, will be my theme in glory, To tell you all the stories of Jesus’ love for me.

Starting on March 5, the 11:10 adult small group will be studying Take the Flag. This is a series based on seven flags used in auto racing. Together we’ll read the book, watch the DVD segment and discuss ways God signals us in our race of faith. You don’t have to be a fan or know anything about auto racing. The flags are used as metaphors for how God can and does speak with us in everyday life. This series was written by Pastor Rob Fuquay, Senior Pastor of St Luke’s UMC. Join us as we look at ways God has communicated with ordinary people, like each of us, and to consider how God may be talking with us through everyday life. The book is available online in both print and Kindle versions. The 11:10 small group meets in the Koinonia Room.
