The Struggle is Real Rev. Charlie Wilfong Ephesians 6:10-20

We each face many struggles in life. Slow traffic, bad customer service, irritating neighbors, home repairs, and demanding jobs all complicate our lives. I’m sure you can quickly and easily think of many others. But, what if your biggest problem was not tangible? How would you address it? Therapy? Exercise? The confidence of a friend? Legal action? Comfort food? What about spiritual resources? What if faith, prayer, the scriptures, and other Christian resources could help you with the most significant challenges you face? The good news is that God makes those things available to us. Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power. Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For our struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand therefore, and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness. As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace. With all of these, take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert and always persevere in supplication for all the saints. Pray also for me, so that when I speak, a message may be given to me to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it boldly, as I must speak. Ephesians 6:10-20 (NRSV)

Join the Summer Chorus The PUMC Summer Chorus is open to all people – you don’t need to have extensive musical experience, and you don’t even need to be a member of PUMC. The ensemble sings music ranging from spirituals and hymn-based choral anthems, to classical favorites and even a surprise or two. Singing on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of June, July and August, the Summer Chorus rehearses from 7:00-8:00 on the Thursdays immediately prior to those Sundays. Email Director of Music Michael Pettry for more information: mpettry@pumc.org.

BOOT Camp Register today! Please visit www. pumc.org to register your student and to volunteer, or visit the tables in the Main Lobby and the Coffee Area in Clayt0n Hall. It’s war out there, and BOOT Camp is a call to arms to join the Lord’s Army. There is no middle ground. You’re either a soldier of Christ (the Commander-in Chief), or a POW of the enemy! At BOOT Camp, recruits will learn to battle sin, equip themselves for daily battle, and how to march against the darkness with the Gospel, advancing on the enemy and helping to claim territory for the name of Christ! Recruits are training to be warriors for God! Please contact Children’s Ministry Director Amanda Norton at anorton@ pumc.org with questions or for more information on how you can be a part of this high-energy, impactful and fun week!
