We are so glad to welcome you to worship this morning! If you are new to PUMC, you are invited to stop by the Welcome Center located in the south lobby. A PUMC member is there to answer your questions, and we have a gift for you, too! In Clayton Hall (north end of building) you’ll find refreshments and a place to chat and meet people. Transforming for Tomorrow Tomorrow always holds opportunity - for new things, for exciting events, and for hoped-for improvements and transformations. PUMC is looking towards tomorrow with the hope of improvements and transformations that will help us even more fully express the love and grace of Jesus to all who come to this church. The PUMC Church Council is recommending a list of building and property improvements and upgrades that are both needed and desired, as PUMC seeks its most faithful expression of God’s welcome and hospitality. In worship today Finance Chair Bill Edie will preview this initiative. To learn more, you are invited to a Question & Answer Session about the proposed project on today, September 24, 5:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. A summary of the project is available this week in the church office, in the lobbies on Sunday mornings of September 24 and October 1, and online at pumc.link/T4T. Then on Sunday, October 1, 2:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary, District Superintendent Jim Bushfield will preside at a Called Church Conference to consider and vote on the fund-raising campaign for the proposed projects. All full members of the congregation present at the October 1 Called Church Conference may vote. Thank you for your prayerful consideration of the opportunity before us. Questions may be raised today at the September 24 meeting or by contacting Nikki Shoultz or the pastors through the church office.

Small Group Call-Out Even a quick look at the Gospel accounts of Jesus reveals that the life of a follower of Jesus is not an independent life, but a life lived in community. Among the first things that Jesus did in his public ministry was gather a small group of people around him with whom to do life. They traveled together, prayed and worshiped together, served together, encouraged and challenged each other, and I’m certain, even had fun together. Life lived together with other followers of Jesus provides encouragement, support, friendship, and opportunities for spiritual growth. If you’d like to find a small group to be a part of, please mark your calendar for Friday, October 6, 6-7:30 p.m. for a Small Group Call Out. The evening will include pizza, experience a few typical small group elements, and provide an opportunity to join a small group if you like. Please RSVP to Pastor Elizabeth at egilbert@pumc.org or 317.839.2319, ext. 244. And invite a friend to join you for this Small Group Call Out! It will be a fun evening!

Playlist How do you listen to your music? On the radio or your iPod? Maybe you are a fan of vinyl. Back in the day you might have made a mixed-tape to be able to listen to just your favorites. Today we use our smart phones and apps to keep our playlists at our finger tips. “Playlist” is a term to describe a list of video or audio files that can be played back on a media player sequentially or in random order. In its most general form, an audio playlist is simply a list of songs. But with today’s technology and access to an almost limitless amount of music, playlists have become so much than just a collection of favorite songs. People have playlists to power their workouts, to create just the right mood for a dinner party, and to fuel the summer road trip. And more than just music to enjoy, the songs we curate on those lists have meaning for us; tell stories we connect to; and express our hopes, dreams, desires, and hearts. In NewDay Praise Worship in October, we’ll explore some songs that might be on your playlist. Songs that encourage us in our lives of faith, that inspire us to walk more closely with Jesus, and help us praise and worship our mighty and loving God. Your playlist can do more than energize your time at the gym. Your playlist can grow your faith and guide your relationship with Jesus. Discover the stories behind some popular, contemporary Christian songs, and let God speak to you through the music of faith in the series “Playlist”, Sundays (9:50 a.m.) in October in NewDay Praise Worship. In anticipation of “Playlist,” load these

series songs on to your own personal playlist today!

• Hello, My Name Is (Matthew West)

• Tell Your Heart to Beat Again (Danny Gokey)

• The Altar and the Door (Casting Crowns)

• The House of God Forever (Jon Foreman)

In NewDay Praise Worship we seek to create a space and an experience where people who don’t know Jesus can meet him, those who do know Jesus can grow in that relationship, and everyone can find a warm welcome and a safe place to ask questions and talk about faith.
