PARENTS OF YOUNG CHILDREN
The children’s programs of PUMC are well supervised and offer warm, caring, and fun atmospheres. INFANT AND TODDLERS: Care is provided in room 15 from 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. every Sunday. THREE – PRE-K AGED CHILDREN: Sunday school is at 10:00 a.m. in room 20. CHILDREN GRADES K-5: “Bible Explorers” begins at 10:00 in the south hallway. Classrooms are marked. Children may begin arriving 9:45 a.m. in room 107, the Gathering Place, for worship and music before class. During all worship services in the sanctuary, activity bags for children are available from the ushers.
STUDENT MINISTRY PROGRAMS
Middle and High School students will find a worship experience led by Youth Pastor Bob Preusch and the student worship team at 10:00 a.m. every Sunday upstairs in room 200.
ADULT SMALL GROUP LIFE

CLASSIC WORSHIP NOTES We heartily greet you this happy Easter morning! Welcome to Plainfield United Methodist Church and to Classic Worship. On this Sunday, the first of the Easter season, we gather together to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We celebrate with flowers, prayers, preaching, Holy Communion, and music. “For the Beauty of the Earth” by British composer John Rutter is our opening anthem. Rutter earned his undergraduate degree at Clare College, Cambridge, where David Willcocks, then the music director of the worldfamous King’s College, Cambridge, encouraged him to begin publishing his music. The text of the Communion anthem, “Ave verum corpus,” dates back to the 14th-century, but the beautiful 18th-century musical setting by Mozart is relatively new by comparison. Ave verum corpus, natum de Maria Virgine, vere passum, immolatum in cruce pro homine cuius latus perforatum fluxit aqua et sanguine: esto nobis praegustatum in mortis examine.
Hail, true Body, born of the Virgin Mary, having truly suffered, sacrificed on the cross for mankind, from whose pierced side water and blood flowed: Be for us a foretaste [of the Heavenly banquet] in the trial of death!
As you eat the bread and drink the cup of the Holy Communion, make these words your own personal prayer. We conclude the service with Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” from Messiah, which premiered in Dublin in 1741. All are welcome to join the choir in singing this magnificent piece as we celebrate the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!

EASTER OFFERING FOR FAMILIES MISSIONS PROJECTS SUNDAY AT PUMC APRIL 8 This annual special event gives everyone at PUMC an opportunity to see displays and posters about the many ways one can be in service or ministry locally or reaching around the world through Plainfield United Methodist Church. The updated Mission Booklet will be available that day. Thirty or more missions projects will be featured in the main lobby with persons available to answer questions and give more information. This is a good time to learn about the several work teams which go annually (or more often) from PUMC to Henderson Settlement in Kentucky, UMC Midwest Mission Distribution Center in Illinois, and Strong Ministry in Costa Rica, as well as the many, many opportunities for mission and service right here in the area.
CALL FOR COFFEE CANS FOR ANGEL TREE One valuable resource that is needed for PUMC’s Angel Tree Ministry every year is coffee cans. We decorate these cans for use in delivering home-baked Christmas Cookies to the Angel Tree children. Ideally, we would like to have metal coffee cans, but we realize that they are hard to come by. A viable alternative are round 240 and 270 cup plastic coffee cans. (We cannot use square cans or 210 cup plastic coffee cans. Please drop off clean, empty coffee cans at the Donation Depot near the church office to help with this important part of the Christmas Angel Tree Ministry.
Today PUMC is receiving a special Easter offering for outreach to families in crisis in Plainfield and the surrounding areas. There are many children and their families living nearby who face extreme challenges in housing, food, clothing, and medical care. Your generous gifts will allow PUMC to minister to these families and their special needs. There are three easy ways to give; an envelope in the Easter Sunday worship folder, write a check at any time to PUMC and mark it “Easter Offering, ” or give online by going to pumcgives.to/Families.
MARCH 11 PUMC CHURCH CONFERENCE REPORT On Sunday, March 11, 2 p.m. the congregation of PUMC approved a motion to fund needed building upgrades, renovations, and maintenance. The motion was passed by 82% of the attendees to the Special Church Conference. Minutes from this meeting, the full motion, supporting documents, and a prayer guiding PUMC forward an be found at pumc.org. Hard copies are available in the church office. Please use the prayer daily as PUMC launches this improvement initiative, Transforming for Tomorrow. And be in touch with pastors through the church office with questions.
