PARENTS OF YOUNG CHILDREN
The children’s programs of PUMC are well supervised and offer warm, caring, and fun atmospheres. INFANT AND TODDLERS: Care is provided in room 15 from 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. every Sunday. THREE – PRE-K AGED CHILDREN: Sunday school is at 10:00 a.m. in room 20. CHILDREN GRADES K-5: “Bible Explorers” begins at 10:00 in the south hallway. Classrooms are marked. Children may begin arriving 9:45 a.m. in room 107, the Gathering Place, for worship and music before class. During all worship services in the sanctuary, activity bags for children are available from the ushers.
STUDENT MINISTRY PROGRAMS
Middle and High School students will find a worship experience led by Youth Pastor Bob Preusch and the student worship team at 10:00 a.m. every Sunday upstairs in room 200.

What was the most exciting, most ‘electric,’ most emotional experience you’ve ever had? Maybe you were a teen at your first rock concert and you were moved to tears. Maybe it was when you arrived at a long-dreamed about vacation destination like Disney World or the Grand Canyon and you were so full of anticipation that you couldn’t sit still. Maybe it was your wedding day and all the love and the hope you had for the future bubbled over to make for an unforgettable day. On that day of Pentecost that we read about in the book Acts, chapter 2, we find that something so exciting, so hopeful, so out of the ordinary was happening that people were having truly fantastic experiences… the air was electric, it sounded like the “rush of a violent wind” and filled the entire house! “Tongues, as of fire” appeared among them. Their language was even changed! “All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit” and the church was born! For all the church has been through the centuries, and for all it is to us today, it is first and primarily a movement of God through the power of the Holy Spirit. That power is still present in the church today and still seeks to excite us and fill us. Today on Pentecost Sunday we celebrate the Birthday of the Church! Happy Birthday, Church! May you always be Spirit-filled and excited about God’s work in and through you!
CLASSIC WORSHIP NOTES HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CHURCH!!!!! This glorious day commemorates the day when the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles. Afterwards, thousands of people were converted and praised the Lord in every language. Today, the prelude presented by Brandon Rodarmel, the music played by the Joyful Praise and Chancel Bell Choirs, the anthem sung by the Chancel Choir, and the hymns sung by everyone all praise the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Today is the last day of the 2017-2018 season for the bell choirs and adult choir. This past year has been busy with guest organists, singers and instrumentalists, a spectacular Christmas Eve service, and an outstanding performance of Jesus Christ Superstar. We welcomed Lynn Blosser as the new bell choir director and Jacob Tipantasig-Wolverton as NewDay Praise Worship Leader and as the incoming Director of Music. We bade farewell to Michael Norton, Oma Buckner, and Michael Pettry, with gratitude for their service to God, the church, and this congregation. We also close this season’s Worship Notes. Thank you to Jaime Carini, Michael Pettry, Sue Schultz, and Zoe Wiltrout for their hard work to further enhance our worship through this weekly guide. In anticipation of the 2018-2019 season, the bells will be repaired and refurbished after many years of ringing. Jaime Carini will return as the Organ Scholar after spending the summer at her home in Oklahoma. We hope that you will consider sharing your music talents in the coming months, as well. The Holy Spirit descends upon us in many ways. We hope that you have felt the Holy Spirit close to you through the music ministry here at PUMC.

Transforming for Tomorrow is an initiative of PUMC that will update, renovate, and prepare its building for effective and meaningful ministry tomorrow and beyond. Through this five-year project we will improve the building and property at 600 Simmons Street, Plainfield, to the point where we can provide everyone, especially newcomers, the full experience of the grace and love of God that we talk about — so that all of a person’s experience from ease of parking; wayfinding signs; a pleasant, current appearance; security for children; up-to-date restrooms; and more; matches our words of grace and welcome. YOUTH CONFIRMATION, SUNDAY, MAY 20, 10:00 A.M. Today, May 20, in the Worship Annex, PUMC middle school youth will be confirmed in their faith, marking the end of a year-long process of study, prayer, and discernment and the beginning of their adult life of faith. Family, friends, and PUMC members are invited to participate in this very special worship experience in NewDay Praise Worship.
ENCORE TRAVELS TO ZOO
If you are 60 or older, you are invited to go with the Encore Senior Ministry group and visit the Indianapolis Zoo. We plan to leave PUMC on Monday, June 11, at 12:30 p.m. This should allow us enough time to arrive at the zoo for the dolphin show which is sure to please everyone! After the show, we will have time to browse thru the zoo before heading to find a place to eat. If you have a suggestion for where we will eat afterwards, please make it known at the time you sign up. Sign-ups will be May 20, 27 and June 3.
