PARENTS OF YOUNG CHILDREN
The children’s programs of PUMC are well supervised and offer warm, caring, and fun atmospheres. INFANT AND TODDLERS: Care is provided in room 15 from 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. every Sunday. THREE – PRE-K AGED CHILDREN: Sunday school is at 10:00 a.m. in room 20. CHILDREN GRADES K-5: “Bible Explorers” begins at 10:00 in the south hallway. Classrooms are marked. Children may begin arriving 9:45 a.m. in room 107, the Gathering Place, for worship and music before class. During all worship services in the sanctuary, activity bags for children are available from the ushers.
STUDENT MINISTRY PROGRAMS
Middle and High School students will find a worship experience led by Youth Pastor Bob Preusch and the student worship team at 10:00 a.m. every Sunday upstairs in room 200.

When was the last time you had such good news that you could not wait to tell it? The Bible tells about ordinary people experiencing the ever-living Jesus in life-altering ways. They seem compelled to tell their personal good news to others. Have you experienced the risen Christ? Has your life been changed because of Jesus? What would you say? Is witnessing to your faith more complicated than that?

THE HURCH CLASSIC WORSHIP SERIES: BIG “C”HURCH Do you learn by doing or do you learn then do? Do you try a new activity first, then observe to get better—and after you’ve tried it, maybe get some advice from others who are good at it? Or, do you major on studying up before you try it? The practice of the Christian faith has been a little more “learn by doing” from the beginning. Anselm of Canterbury, a champion of the faith in the 11th century, suggests that doctrine and theology don’t lead the way forward, but rather they come from “faith seeking understanding”. In other words, a living faith-relationship with God through Jesus Christ comes first. Then, as effective followers of Jesus—those who live and love like Christ—want to understand God more, they discover some guiding principles (doctrine and theology). The first generation of Jesus-followers practiced their faith, prayed; and they provide some guiding principles for us. We find that record in the Bible in the book of Acts. The early church—Big “C” Church— helps us as we follow the same Jesus. Certainly church life looks different today than it did 2,000 years ago . . . because daily
life is drastically different! What did the early believers experience as they came together in small communities and sought to live as faithful followers of Jesus? Those practices and beliefs unite all the little “c” churches across time and geography. These practices and beliefs are a part of the Big “C” Church (the spiritual body of Christ in all places) and they keep all of our local communities of faith on the same page, so to speak. In the coming weeks we will examine some of the biblical foundations of the Big “C” Church and find through church history, and our own experience, that we really have a lot in common with that early church. INDIANA UNITED METHODIST’S SUPPORT MMDC When the Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church (annual meeting of UM churches from all across the state) meets in early June in Indianapolis, the Mission & Justice Team will collect materials needed by the UMC Midwest Mission Distribution Center (MMDC) in Illinois. The following items will then be distributed to education mission sites regionally, nationally, and globally. You may make donations of the following items in the PUMC Donation Depot (near the church office, inside door #2) between now and June 7. Thank you for your generosity!

ENCORE TRAVELS TO ZOO If you are 60 or older, you are invited to go with the Encore Senior Ministry group and visit the Indianapolis Zoo. We plan to leave PUMC on Monday, June 11, at 12:30 p.m. This should allow us enough time to arrive at the zoo for the dolphin show which is sure to please everyone! After the show, we will have time to browse thru the zoo before heading to find a place to eat. If you have a suggestion for where we will eat afterwards, please make it known at the time you sign up. Sign-ups will be May 20, 27 and June 3. BOB WALTERS MEMORIAL BREAKFAST On Thursday, June 14, PUMC will host (as an event of the Indiana Conference of The United Methodist Church) Friendly Planet Missiology’s Bob Walter’s Memorial Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Tickets have sold out for the meal, but you may still plan to attend for the program at 8:30 a.m. Rev. Taylor Walters Denyer will give a short presentation about how Friendly Planet Missiology is carrying on Bob’s vision followed by Q&A time and the inaugural ride of the Indiana Circuit Riders (leaving Plainfield at 9 a.m. to ride bicycles to the Indianapolis Convention Center for the Celebration of Life Service there).
