A good friend once told me, “The best time of your vacation is when you’re backing out of the driveway to leave on the first day.” I enjoy driving on vacation. Anticipating a good future is a fun, gratifying, and healthy perspective. Hope is stronger than memory. We can live with impaired memory. As I forget small things on a daily basis, it’s a nuisance. But I cope by writing things down . . . in the places I’m sure to look! But no hope is terrifying. If I can’t expect God to act in my life for good, I feel despair, depression, and despondency. The good news is that the story of our God is the story of God drawing people into the blessed future God has for them. Moving forward. Remember, the windshield is larger than the rear-view mirror.
