PARENTS OF YOUNG CHILDREN
The children’s programs of PUMC are well supervised and offer warm, caring, and fun atmospheres. INFANT AND TODDLERS: Care is provided in room 15 from 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. every Sunday. THREE – PRE-K AGED CHILDREN: Sunday school is at 10:00 a.m. in room 20. CHILDREN GRADES K-5: “Bible Explorers” begins at 10:00 in the south hallway. Classrooms are marked. Children may begin arriving 9:45 a.m. in room 107, the Gathering Place, for worship and music before class. During all worship services in the sanctuary, activity bags for children are available from the ushers.

Middle and High School students will find a worship experience led by Youth Pastor Bob Preusch and the student worship team at 10:00 a.m. every Sunday upstairs in room 200.

LOVING OUT LOUD
ROMANS 12:9-21 REV. ELIZABETH GILBERT We often live our lives like desk-drawer organizers. Work concerns stay at work. Family issues stay at home. Many people use multiple calendars for this very reason—one for work, one for family, etc. One personal efficiency expert declares, “You have one life; use one calendar.” It’s hard enough to integrate all our activities into one calendar. How about our church stuff, our God stuff? Do you keep it separate from everything else? The questions we have been asking ourselves in the church-wide study, The 21-Day Wesley Challenge, seem to suggest that we have one life that relates to God, faces internal struggles, and interacts with others in the world. It’s certainly less complicated to bring our one divine love to our one life along with everyone and everything in it.
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor. Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly; do not claim to be wiser than you are. Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all. If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God; for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” No, “if your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them something to drink; for by doing this you will heap burning coals on their heads.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

LENTEN SMALL GROUP Continue the accountability experience you’ve begun in your 21-Day Wesley Challenge! Join Kathy Perry and others weekly during Lent to grow in discipline and faith. Using “Celebration of Discipline” by Richard Foster, journey towards Easter as you also journey towards a deeper, richer faith experience. DIRECTOR OF CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES PUMC is seeking a part-time Director of Children’s Ministries (DCM). The ideal candidate will have a visible and vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ displayed in his/her leadership of PUMC’s Children’s Ministries.
GRIEFSHARE BEGINS AT PUMC If you’ve lost a spouse, child, family member, or friend, to death you’ve probably found there are not many people who understand the deep hurt you feel. This can be a confusing time when you feel isolated and have many questions about things you’ve never faced before. GriefShare begins February 21 at PUMC to help you face these challenges and move toward rebuilding your life. GriefShare is a thirteen-week, Christcentered, biblically-based support group experience. A grieving person can join at any time during the thirteen weeks and the group is open to anyone seeking support in their grief. Each session shows a video presentation followed by small group discussion about the video. The video presents experts, ministers and Christian counselors discussing grief and recovery subjects helpful to persons who are grieving. Real people share their stories of what has helped them deal with the pain of losing a family member or friend through death. During the week between meetings, group members complete a Bible study and practical exercises to help them heal from grief. Expectations include giving leadership to the children’s ministries of Plainfield United Methodist C h urch . T h e DCM will work with pastors, s t a f f, and volunteers to develop, articulate, and deploy a Christ-centered philosophy for faith development at PUMC. The DCM will give direction to the Children’s Council; direct process for recruiting, training, and deploying volunteer leaders; and supervise and train child care and nursery volunteers. Candidates must demonstrate spiritual character and maturity, passion for Christ and their ministry, enthusiasm, vision, versatility, effective communication and administration skills and teamwork in the leadership of an established and growing Children’s Ministry.
