Years ago a junior high Sunday school curriculum had the helpful equation: Faith = Belief + Action. While there is much truth to this teaching, a deeper truth is implied when you use “Love “ in place of faith. Too many times we sense a lack of love in our daily life. We don’t want to use the term glibly, but we do need to take our “Sunday Morning “ teachings into every day of our lives. So listening to the teachings of John seems especially appropriate for our personal lives and our public interactions. Love is more than an emotion—it is an ethic that permeates our living.
