PARENTS OF YOUNG CHILDREN
The children’s programs of PUMC are well supervised and offer warm, caring, and fun atmospheres. INFANT AND TODDLERS: Care is provided in room 15 from 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. every Sunday. THREE – PRE-K AGED CHILDREN: Sunday school is at 10:00 a.m. in room 20. CHILDREN GRADES K-5: “Bible Explorers” begins at 10:00 in the south hallway. Classrooms are marked. Children may begin arriving 9:45 a.m. in room 107, the Gathering Place, for worship and music before class. During all worship services in the sanctuary, activity bags for children are available from the ushers.

Middle and High School students will find a worship experience led by Youth Pastor Bob Preusch and the student worship team at 10:00 a.m. every Sunday upstairs in room 200.

WHEN YOU LET JESUS IN YOUR BOAT, GET READY. LUKE 5:1-11 REV. BOB PREUSCH
Jesus typically enters our lives in the most average of circumstances; maybe at work, at the ball game, driving home from the park, just hanging out, or digging in the garden. We’re not always aware at first, but Jesus enters whether you’re the CEO or the clerk, the shortstop or the ball boy, the teacher or the student. The thing is, when Jesus enters our personal space he is on a mission to transform our lives. Luke tells a story about the early days of Jesus’ ministry where he invades the personal lives of normal people. He starts by going where people are simply hanging out doing their normal daily activities. But then he climbs into a random, conveniently empty boat and invites the boat’s owner to drop whatever he’s doing and row him out into the lake. It was all a bit strange, but Jesus was about to enter the lives of Peter, James and John, and they would never be the same. When Jesus enters your life what should you expect? Get ready.
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE One day Jesus was standing beside Lake Gennesaret when the crowd pressed in around him to hear God’s word. Jesus saw two boats sitting by the lake. The fishermen had gone ashore and were washing their nets. Jesus boarded one of the boats, the one that belonged to Simon, then asked him to row out a little distance from the shore. Jesus sat down and taught the crowds from the boat. When he finished speaking to the crowds, he said to Simon, “Row out farther, into the deep water, and drop your nets for a catch.” Simon replied, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and caught nothing. But because you say so, I’ll drop the nets.” So they dropped the nets and their catch was so huge that their nets were splitting. They signaled for their partners in the other boat to come and help them. They filled both boats so full that they were about to sink. When Simon Peter saw the catch, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Leave me, Lord, for I’m a sinner!” Peter and those with him were overcome with amazement because of the number of fish they caught. James and John, Zebedee’s sons, were Simon’s partners and they were amazed too. Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid. From now on, you will be fishing for people.” As soon as they brought the boats to the shore, they left everything and followed Jesus.

Trevor Dunn

Morgan Marie Evans
Daughter of Leely and Joseph Evans. Laura Barber was Morgan’s mentor. Morgan was involved with the homeless ministry, food drive, Stoutfield School food pantry, Angel Tree, CROP Walk, helped with Vacation Bible School and taught Sunday School over the last year. Daughter of Vickie White and Beth Bradford. Darian Eggers was Jaelynne’s mentor. Jaelynne was involved with the homeless ministry over the last year. YOUTH CONFIRMATION, SUNDAY, MAY 20, 10:00 A.M. Today, May 20, in the Worship Annex, PUMC middle school youth will be confirmed in their faith, marking the end of a year-long process of study, prayer, and discernment and the beginning of their adult life of faith. Family, friends, and PUMC members are invited to participate in this very special worship experience in NewDay Praise Worship.
ENCORE TRAVELS TO ZOO
If you are 60 or older, you are invited to go with the Encore Senior Ministry group and visit the Indianapolis Zoo. We plan to leave PUMC on Monday, June 11, at 12:30 p.m. This should allow us enough time to arrive at the zoo for the dolphin show which is sure to please everyone! After the show, we will have time to browse thru the zoo before heading to find a place to eat.
