JULY 29, 2018 NEWDAY PRAISE WORSHIP | 10:00 A.M.

#BACKTOSCHOOLREADY DEUTERONOMY 31:6-8 REV. ELIZABETH GILBERT

Back to school time is a busy time for students and families. The to-do list is llllooonnnggg! The kids need haircuts and new sneakers. Bedtimes need to be adjusted to a more reasonable hour. Bus schedules, car pools, and after school care have to be arranged. Lunches have to be planned for and packed. And the there’s the back to school shopping to be done - school supplies, clothes and uniforms, backpacks and gym clothes. There are so many things to take care of to be ready on that first day of school! But in the hurry and scurry to get everything ready, don’t forget to include the most important school partner, friend, and help. God goes with each student into the school year to be friend, guide and guard. As you prepare for back to school, include your God “who will not fail you or forsake you.” God is the one who ultimately makes you #backtoschoolready.

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE Be strong and bold; have no fear or dread of them, because it is the Lord your God who goes with you; he will not fail you or forsake you.” Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel: “Be strong and bold, for you are the one who will go with this people into the land that the Lord has sworn to their ancestors to give them; and you will put them in possession of it. It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

DEUTERONOMY 31:6-8 (NRSV)
