Pipe Organ Specifications
Dear friends, Whenever one engages both the mind and the soul through the beauty, inspiring power and magnificence of music, rightly we should anticipate a special gift coming into our life. Plainfield United Methodist Church is pleased to share with you our recently completed pipe organ which salutes this congregation's rich 180-year history and our vision of worship and service to the community for generations to come. This new pipe organ contains more than 3,100 pipes which are sourced from our previous instrument, from an historic 1928 instrument, and brand new pipework as well. The console is inspired by those of E. M. Skinner, an artistic nod to the overall tonal design of the instrument, which acknowledges the rich tradition of symphonic repertoire and organ building in this nation. Our pipe organ is primarily here to lead worship – to lift our voices and our souls in song. But so too is this instrument here for concerts and recitals, to entertain and inspire, and to serve as an educational tool for professional and avocational musicians alike. Life is made all the richer when music and the arts are included at every step of the journey. Thanks to members of the congregation, the community, and with gratitude to the gifted team from Reynolds Associates who built this glorious instrument, inspiring music will fill this space for generations to come. I look forward to sharing this remarkable pipe organ with you.
