Summer road trips to beautiful local parks (NC) Although at the moment we may not be able to head to some of our favourite international destinations, with local parks now reopened to the public there are plenty of great drives to experience with spectacular views with a cross country trip. Niagara Falls to Niagara-on-theLake. This drive is a short-butsweet trek along the Niagara Parkway. The road follows the Niagara River and features plenty of beautiful sites along the way. Program for Skilled Immigrants Holds First Virtual Career Panel Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants, in partnership with the Training Group at Douglas College, is hosting its first Virtual Career Panel for current and potential clients on July 16th. The Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants program at Archway Community Services helps newcomers find related employment to their former careers. It’s designed to break the stereotype of doctors driving taxis and provides newcomers with one-to-one support, financial assistance and training by employment counsellors. From 10am to 12pm on July 16th professionals from a range of fields, including Marketing, IT, Language Instruction, Social Services and Human Resources, will speak to newcomers on pursuing careers, making professional connections and having their credentials recognized in Canada. Several of the speakers are immigrants who have experienced first-hand the challenges newcomers face when their arrive in Canada and want to pursue the

same line of work they studied for and worked in in their country of origin. Newcomers can also learn more about the support available to them through the Career Paths program. “Our program is unique; we help individuals take the steps to obtaining meaningful employment using their experience or training abroad,” said Mary Finch, the program coordinator for Career Paths. “The barriers newcomers face can be financial or sometimes it’s just a lack of awareness of the Canadian working culture that stops them from getting hired.” Current Career Paths clients and newcomers interested in participating in the panel can learn more at Archway. ca/CPSI. The event is free but registration is required. Funding for Career Paths is provided the Province of BC and Government of Canada and the Virtual Career Panel is provided in partnership with Douglas College Training Group.

Even I have been a victim of nepotism: Saif Ali Khan Actor Saif Ali Khan has weighed in on the nepotism debate that has picked up steam again after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. The actor died by suicide on June 14.Kangana Ranaut has spoken several times against the alleged nepotism that she says is prevalent in Bollywood, blaming people like Karan Johar who, according to her, was the “flag-bearer of nepotism”. After Sushant’s death, Kangana even hinted at people who were putting suicidal thoughts into the actor’s mind.In a recent interaction with The New Indian Express, Saif Ali Khan was asked about Sushant Singh Rajput and nepotism. He said, “He was a talented actor and a good-looking guy. I thought he had a bright future. He was polite to me and appreciated my guest appearance in the film. He wanted to talk about many topics like astronomy and philosophy. I got the feeling he was brighter than I was.” Saif added, “I have no idea what Kangana was saying on Koffee with Karan because I don’t think like that. As far as Karan is concerned, he has made himself a large symbol and it seems like he’s attracting a lot of flak for it. The truth is always complicated. There’s much more to it, but people aren’t interested in that. I hope the tide is over and better things shine through. There is inequality in India that needs to be explored. Nepotism, favoritism and camps are different subjects. Even I have been a victim of nepotism, but nobody speaks of that. I’m happy to see more people from film institutes come to the forefront.”

Indian attires are so classy : Evelyn Sharma She has been painting the social media with various colours, and in one of the throwback photos, she is seen sporting a desi look in yellow."There isn't much to do now. I have been trying different looks, and Indian attires are one of my favourites. They are just so classy. As actors, we need to experiment with our looks and it always helps. Also, they provide some good feed for social media and the Instagram family," she

said.Talking about the desi look, she said: "While I was in Canada, I had tried that look and I think it suits me." Evelyn made her Bollywood debut in the 2012 film "From Sydney With Love". She was then seen in films like "Nautanki Saala", "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani", "Yaariyan" and "Saaho". She has earned the tag of "sexy girl"."I'm totally flattered to get so many offers to play the sexy girl!" Evelyn said

Self-made people too deserved to be on panel : Aahana Kumra Disney+Hotstar announced its slate of seven films in a virtual press conference attended by Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Abhishek Bachchan. Surprisingly, the cast of Vidyut Jammwal-led Khuda Hafiz and Kunal Kemmu's Lootcase were not invited to the session despite the films being part of the OTT platform's line-up. Jammwal expressed his disappointment as he tweeted, "Seven films scheduled for release but only five are deemed worthy of representation. Two films receive no invitation or intimation. The cycle continues. (sic)" Even as Sushant Singh Rajput's demise has sparked a dialogue about the industry's toxic star system, the press conference shows how Bollywood is far from being a level playing field. Aahana Kumra, Jammwal's co-star in Khuda

Hafiz, says, "I found out about the press conference after seeing Vidyut's tweet. I have not bothered asking why I wasn't informed. I know it won't lead to an answer." With Marzi and Betaal behind her, Kumra is not new to the web world. She is stunned at the discriminatory behaviour of the streaming giant. "The OTT platforms I have worked with have been warm, professional and democratic in how they present you. They pride themselves in equal representation. This is the first time I have seen such behaviour."After a fortnight of discussions on the privileges afforded to stars, Kumra admits it is disappointing to see little change in the industry. "Vidyut is an outsider who has made it on merit. We must support such talent considering it's difficult to crack the industry in today's times. Self-made people too deserved to be on this panel. We all should have been part of it."

Yes I'm human, I get zits : Ileana D'cruz Actress Ileana Dcruz replied to a social media user who commented on her pimple, saying she is human and does get zits.Ileana took to Instagram, where she treated her fans and followers to a question-answer session. A netizen wrote: "You have a pimple on your left cheek."The actress replied: "Yes, I'm human, I'm pmsing, I get zits. What else would you like to know?"Another user asked her about Ileana's reaction when "Barfi!" was named for the Oscars. She replied: "I thought it was a joke! I thought the team was playing a prank on me and I couldn't believe it. So, Googled it lol. Honestly, it was one of the most surreal moments of my life," she wrote. On the work front, Ileana was last seen on screen in Anees Bazmee's "Pagalpanti".She will next be seen alongside Abhishek Bachchan in Ajay Devgn's production "The Big Bull", a film reportedly based on India's biggest securities scam of 1992.

Having to wait is something you cannot do much about right now. Attempting to make decisions in any situation that has a lot of uncertainties attached is not wise. Promises from somebody else to make commitments or take on certain responsibilities may not happen. Contemplate what you have the ability to establish

You could be disappointed with a friend or somebody within a group of people you are dealing with. Some sort of limitation or restrictions with finances could be linked in with this. At the same time though you have the opportunity to gain a clearer picture on the true situation and whether it fits with your own priorities.

Anything you want recognition or appreciation for may prove difficult to gain. It may make you realise that a lot more can be expected of you than you are willing to give. The reason for this can be that you feel someone else will benefit more than you. This would be a good time to dissolve any outdated obligations you have.

Don’t discount any suspicions you might have on the direction a matter could take in the future. You might get all sorts of assurances that you find difficult to be comfortable about. The main thing is to keep your mind focussed on your own position or situation so that you are ready for any changes you might need to make.

Exactly what somebody else is expecting could be difficult to ascertain. They may be giving the impression of willingness to be adaptable when this is what they want from you. If you wonder about whether they know what they want – they do. You should not openly express your ideas. There will be much to consider to August.

Somebody else can be rather forceful in a subtle way. You need to be alert to not giving them more authority than you feel comfortable about. If you have authority, be sure you maintain it. Stay focussed on your priorities. These might need to go through some change later but to avoid regrets, now is not the time for alterations.

If you haven’t been paying enough attention to your health and general well being you could now feel the consequences of this, mainly with lowered energy levels. This could also apply to details you have not been keeping on top of with any matter. For proper progress in the future you need to apply yourself to July.

You will be more inclined towards taking it easy than pushing yourself too hard. Someone else could have other ideas but it may not hurt you to take a momentary break from things, especially if you are not sure whether matters are heading in a direction that you could be happy about in the long term. There is no rush.

You may wonder whether something is as secure as you thought when it comes to situations that have been put in place involving others. Most important is that you do not take any chances when it comes to your finances, which could include any advice that is given. You need to focus on whatever gives you underlying security.

Any attempt to gain clarity on details as to whether something should be finished or let go of can seem conflicting. You need to be sure that information you are accessing is reliable. Somebody who is completely removed from the matter could provide much to think about in that they may be able to give you alternative ideas.

There could be a sense of disappointment because of not having, at your disposal, the resources you would like to enjoy certain things in life. This can be more about letting go of something pleasurable, for the moment at least. You might realise that you could benefit from giving greater consideration to changes with daily routines.

Clear awareness of the action you would need to take to put in motion something you would like to accomplish is likely to have options you had not previously considered. Getting the foundation in place is likely to unsettle priorities that have been important for quite some time. Take your time contemplating your happiness.

Place the puff pastry sheet on baking tray, dock it with a fork then brush lightly with garlic oil. Tumble tomato mixture onto pastry, spread into a single layer. Add crumbled goat cheese over tomatoes and bake. If you use an oven like the LG ProBake Convection oven it will evenly distribute heat and reduce the need to constantly check the dish. Set timer for 25 minutes – you can head back to the party to mingle while you wait. Serve with basil on top.

WE BELIEVE IN ABBOTSFORD. and we think you should, too.

Picture the difference between celebrating Canada Day alone, and a gathering with family and friends, music and food, conversations and connections. That’s the difference Abbotsford Tech District will make for the Fraser Valley tech sector. It will create a gathering place for innovation and entrepreneurship by BC-based startup companies, with a focus on agricultural technology and aerospace. More young people will be able to stay in Abbotsford for education, affordable homes, and family-supporting jobs that embrace our agricultural roots to grow our future. Everyone will benefit as a multi-billion-dollar private sector investment strengthens the local economy. To learn more, go to www.abbotsford.tech.
