Abbotsford Angels Red Triumph in 13U A Provincial East Tournament: Bringing Home the Gold Banner
The Abbotsford Minor Baseball Association proudly celebrates the remarkable victory of their 13U A Abby Red team in the 13U A Provincial East Tournament, which took place in Mission from August 10 to 13. The young athletes exhibited extraordinary talent and determination, culminating in a sensational win worker, at TRIM describes, “the bus helps bring our residents out to see the community and normalises their life. And makes community aware of those who live in long term care”. John Varley, respiratory therapist, Mission Memorial Hospital further describes, the bus as a chance to remember the past and present: “it’s an awesome opportunity to experience new things, and create new stories, as well as reminisce about the past”.
Mobility is critical for older adults to maintain independence, dignity, and engage in social and community life, and addressing mobility challenges is something we need to continue to work on to ensure we can create positive health outcomes in our long-term facilities.

After a challenging journey through the tournament, Abby Red secured the second position in their preliminary pool. The team demonstrated their prowess by overcoming their fellow Abbotsford counterparts, the Abby Black team, with a convincing score of 10-0 in the playoff semifinal. This hard-fought victory propelled Abby Red into the championship showdown.
In the thrilling final match against the North Delta Rays, Abby Red showcased a winning formula of stellar pitching, solid defense, and impressive batting. The team’s cohesive effort and exceptional skills led to an outstanding 12-3 victory, clinching the championship banner on August 13.
Dan Pass, the head coach of Abby Red, expressed immense pride in his team’s performance throughout the tournament. He praised the players for their dedication and teamwork, highlighting their exceptional growth as a cohesive unit. Assistant coaches Tim Folster, Mike Ivany, and Rob Brandsma echoed Pass’s sentiments, emphasizing the players’ dedication and hard work leading up to the tournament.
The victorious roster includes Anderson Kams, Ashton Gill, Avraan Brar, Carson Dyck, Carter Ivany, Dex Brandsma, Jaxon Ivany, Kevin Luo, Kian Folster, Knox Pass, Logan Giesbrecht, Otto Toews, and Tristan MacLean. These young athletes have not only secured a remarkable victory but have also exemplified the values of sportsmanship and dedication.
