Achieving Excellence Through Dedication: Manraj Singh Brar’s Inspiring Journey

Manraj Singh Brar achieved the top position in his final matriculation examination at D.A.V. School, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Punjab, scoring an impressive 96.4% marks. He credits his success to the guidance and support of his school teachers and parents, whose joint efforts enabled him to achieve this remarkable position. His grandmother, a retired teacher, described him as a self-motivated and hardworking individual who efficiently manages his time between studying, participating in sports, volunteering, and spending time with his family.

To celebrate this special achievement, Manraj spent the day with visually impaired children and elderly individuals, bringing happiness to their lives. He has always been keen on assisting academically challenged children in his neighborhood to improve their academic performance. His dream is to organize his efforts on a larger scale by volunteering to help visually and financially disadvantaged children improve their academic scores. Additionally, he plans to create a social media page to gather charitable donations for abandoned elderly parents, aiming to improve their quality of life.

The benefits of the grass beneath our feet

(NC) While many of us enjoy the esthetic beauty of a well-maintained lawn, sports field or golf fairway, they may not realize that there are environmental benefits of turfgrass. Next time you’re playing a game of soccer, strolling through the golf course or taking in the smell of freshly cut grass in your neighbourhood, think about the power of healthy grass, which includes:

Reducing the speed and force of flowing water runoff

Preventing erosion by forming fibrous root systems

Serving as a barrier to fire damage

Reducing injuries on sports fields

Reducing pollen production by preventing the growth of weeds and helps keep allergies in check

Has a cooling effect that lowers air temperature around turfgrass

Releasing oxygen (e.g. a 15 metre x 15 metre lawn produces enough air to support four people for a year)

Sequestering carbon (e.g. a hectare of golf course turf is capable of sequestering one tonne of carbon into the soil per year for 30 years).
