Hundreds of visitors were the first to take in Des Pardes, a unique new exhibition at The Reach Gallery Museum that opened over the past weekend. A special reception for exhibition contributors on Friday night welcomed individuals and their families who participated in the creation of Des Pardes, and on Saturday a public opening featured talented artists, writers, and performers from the South Asian Canadian communities in the Fraser Valley, including world renowned poet and spoken word artist Jasmin Kaur, local comedian Rajnish Dhawan, and performance by the province’s youngest dhol troupe from the Rooh Punjab Dee School of Punjabi Folk Arts. Des Pardes captures the histories, personal accounts, and creative talents of over 100 members of Abbotsford’s South Asian Canadian communities through photos, interviews, works of art, and interactive databases. This is one of the most ambitious projects that has ever been planned and hosted by The Reach, a feat that, by Colla Films, are both showcased according to Curatorial Assistant in the exhibition. Eat well The food you eat is the fuel your body needs to function. Consuming a variety of foods, including plenty of fruits and vegetables, to get all the nutrients you need while minimizing the amount of processed foods you eat will help you stay healthy. Remember adult vaccines Throughout one's life, vaccination including adult vaccinations provides effective protection against disease. While many of us are familiar with childhood vaccinations, they don’t provide lifelong immunity against every disease. As well, some vaccines are prescribed only for adults. Adults require helper, or booster shots to maintain immunity for some conditions. And, if you didn’t get all your shots as a child, you could still be at risk of infection from vaccine-preventable diseases. For example, if you are among the 90 per cent of Canadian adults over 50 years old who’ve had chickenpox – you should consider a vaccine to help prevent shingles. It’s a painful disease caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox.

Tamannaah’s strategy to beat internet trolls Taapsee calls out Actress Tamannaah Bhatia who has made her mark in both South film industries as well as Hindi film industry, recently opened up about negativity on social media and how she learned to deal with it. The Baahubali actress was asked about how she deals with hate and negativity on social media. She said, “...when that has happened to me, for the first moment it took me by a storm and I was very uncomfortable with it because it really made me feel like what’s going on? is something that I have done gone wrong?” The Lust Stories 2 actress added, “So now, I have an option of either believing that that is me or I have an option of believing what I think is true about me. I think that’s the moment I felt that I have to just focus on becoming who I want to become and not be worried about what so many people think about me because A- they have never been on that journey, they have not lived my life, they have no idea about who I am. They are only talking from their level of understanding.” On the work front, Tamannaah was last seen in Jailer and web series Aakhri Sach.
Times are changing for the better : Nayanthara
Nayanthara is undoubtedly one of the top actors in the country at the moment, with her pan-India movie Jawan opposite Shah Rukh Khan sweeping box offices across the globe. The Darbar actress is known to break these social norms, re peatedly portraying strong characters over the course of her career which spans more than two decades. In a recent interview , Nayanthara revealed that she believed times were changing for the better, and that today’s audience focus more on the character, and what the women play, rather than just judging by the face value. She also revealed that she believes people should love their best self.“I think times are changing. People are fond of characters and what women play instead of judging actors at
face value. I’m always for people accepting and l o v i n g themselves. Loving their best selves.” On the professional f r o n t , Nayanthara recently made her Hindi film debut with Atlee’s film Jaw an . The film boasted an ensemble cast including King Khan, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Sunil Grover, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, and more.
‘HAVE WATCHED JUST 50 FILMS IN LIFE’ Actor Pankaj Tripathi shares that it’s because he does not like to binge watch content and would rather invest his time in gardening to taking a long walk. “You won’t believe if I tell you that I do not watch anything at all. I have watched 50 films in my entire life, not more than that. Out of these, 80 per cent are Irrfan Khan’s films. I don’t even remember the last commercial film that I watched,” says the actor, whose film, OMG2 has recently dropped on streaming. Ask him if his own work intrigues him, the actor says that it’s not about whose project it is, but the fact that he does not like to binge watch anything. “I
cannot binge watch. I just cannot sit at one place for too long. I like to cook, do gardening on my day off. ” While it may come out as a surprise for his fans, Tripathi tells us how not watching other's work has helped him as an artiste. “I have not watched a lot of content and I think that’s the reason why my performances and my acting feels original. It’s not influenced or inspired by anyone,” shares the actor, adding that he has worked hard on his craft nd developed a way of acting, which is very original.
‘star system’
Actress Taapsee Pannu, in a recent interview, shared how lowbudget films get affected by the ‘star system’ and discussed the hypocrisy prevalent in the industry. “This myth I had about people believing in ‘content is king’ was shattered while making this (Dhak Dhak) film. There’s so much hypocrisy. They will hear your one-line story and will be quick to ask, ‘Who is the hero in the film?’ That decides their financial and emotional investment in the project,” stated the Pink actress. “Everyone involved is to be blamed for this culture. It includes the actors, studios, audience, and everyone. It’s a cycle. Just because the studios recover their investment (by selling digital rights) for the smaller films, there’s minimal interest in packaging and releasing a film well. That’s detrimental to the growth of the industry because you are only enabling the big names,” commented an angry Taapsee. “How will the rest get a chance? It will only widen the gap between actors and stars. We keep saying Bollywood doesn’t attempt something meaningful but hen we try to do that, there’s rarely any support and this must change,” rued the actress.
KRITI SHARES HER JOURNEY AS AN ACTION STAR Actress Kriti Sanon now becoming an action star in her own right for the very first time in Ganpath. Showcasing various scenes of her training to be in tiptop condition for the sci-fiaction film, Kriti had to learn many things. This included using nunchucks, martial arts, riding a dirt bike, kickboxing, as well as grueling fitness exercises such as iron body, full-out stretching, cardio and more. The actress said: “I’ve been dying to do action on-screen and I was supposed to use nunchucks as my main weapon.” Kriti added: “This is the first time I’ve done action ever, (laughs) but I knew I had a very long way to go. With every weapon you use, you first have to master the art of using it.” Elaborating on other parts of her training, she said: “Apart from nunchucks there was also kickboxing training which I did. There was also, you know, a dirt bike, I was supposed to ride a dirt bike and I didn’t even know how to ride a bike before this.” The video showed various scenes of her just struggling to ride a normal bike, before the crew started practicing in Ladakh where majority of the scenes were shot. Eventually, hang of it. Describing her bike training, she said: “Riding a normal bike, or a heavy bike, or even a bullet is fine, but a dirt bike is very tall, and you know I’m saying that.” Directed by Vikas Bahl, the movie also stars Tiger Shroff and Amitabh Bachchan in lead roles. It will hit the big screen October 20, 2023.
