SUPPORTING THE FUTURE OF TENNIS Tennis is a game loved by everyone from the youngest to oldest in the family and the sport is growing in South Africa. Realising this, we at Altech Autopage made a decision to support the future of the sport by becoming the official sponsor of Tennis Ticker, a live web-based scoring system, used at the majority of Tennis South Africa’s Junior tournaments around the country. The system is operated by the umpires and provide a minuteby-minute update of all the matches. The scores can then be viewed live around the world on www.tennissa.co.za We recently activated at the SA Junior Championships in Bloemfontein, which attracted more than 3 000 players and crowds of over 650 and are greatly looking forward to the next tournament.
NAVIGATING OUR DIGITAL MAGAZINE: We’re very excited to present you with this month’s issue of SYNC. The digital magazine has been designed to allow a truly interactive experience.

study done by the UK’s Daily Mail last year found that a British woman is more likely to feel devastated over losing her phone than she would over losing her boyfriend. Another study conducted more recently by AVG Technologies (based in the USA) showed that the majority of American women would rather give up dating for a week than their phone. And it’s not just women. More than half of smartphone users these days, men included, admit to having fallen asleep cuddling their mobiles.

NOKIA LUMIA 925 Nokia’s flagship phone, the Lumia 920, married striking looks to a quality screen and great camera. However, there was still some room for improvement. The Nokia Lumia 925 is the answer to this. It’s a great looking phone; it’s slimmer and lighter than the Nokia Lumia 920; and the metal band running around the edge does wonders for it. The camera is superb too, not only in terms of its raw performance, but also in the sheer number of options, modes and effects. Nokia’s HERE Maps and HERE Drive navigation apps are brilliant additions. Like all Windows Phone 8 handsets, the Nokia Lumia 925 does a great job of contacts, messaging and social network integration. While it may not reinvent the wheel, it’s a formidable addition to the top of the line smartphone world.

SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 3 Not only is it big, bold and blazingly fast, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has an incredibly sharp 5.7-inch display, and battery life to keep you connected for hours on end. More importantly, the Note 3 features a sleeker design than its predecessor, the Galaxy Note 2, a streamlined S Pen interface, and a superb camera similar to that of the Galaxy S4. The third generation of the Note, however, is the most significant upgrade yet and the first Note device, thanks to a more thoughtful S Pen interface. If you’re looking for the biggest smartphone you can get with the best experience, the Note 3 should be at the top of your list.

SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB 3 10.1 This thin, lightweight Android tablet features a 10.1” touch display along with the same familiar interface as other Samsung Galaxy devices, making it really easy to use. At 510 g, it’s significantly lighter than its predecessor and it’s about 2 mm slimmer too. Thanks to a built-in IR blaster – the same kind found in standard television remote controls – the tablet can be used as a universal remote to operate nearly any TV or DVR. Samsung’s WatchON app offers advanced features, including the ability to share content wirelessly between your tablet and TV, and interacts seamlessly with the Samsung Smart TVs. If you’re looking to connect with friends and family, watch movies on the go or browse the web, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 is your ideal companion.

With over 375 000 immersive, fullscreen apps Apple has ensured that the iPad Mini is practically impossible to put down. The iPad Mini may not have the Retina Display or fast A6X processor of the iPad 4, but it still looks beautiful and is extremely responsive. BLACKBERRY Z30 With the largest screen of any BlackBerry phone so far, the Z30 is a polished business handset aimed at the multitasking executive. It has a premium build with metallic accents, plus the fantastic BlackBerry keyboard and contains lots of neat tweaks aimed at making business-first folk as productive as possible. Making its debut on BlackBerry’s first ever phablet, is the BB10.2 operating system. It brings a run of features and it’s all slicker and faster than the Z10 was at the launch of the BB10 OS. Apple’s iPhone 5s is the Z30’s obvious rival in terms of flagship status, but if you’re a fan of the Canadian brand you can’t go wrong with this phablet.

APPLE IPHONE 5 Thinner. Lighter. Faster. Simpler. The iPhone 5 is Apple’s thin new weapon and the handset is significant in every way. Its new design has less mass yet leaves room for a larger display and LTE wireless, all while increasing battery life. The iPhone 5 adds everything we wanted in the iPhone 4S: 4G LTE, a longer, larger screen, free turn-by-turn navigation and a faster A6 processor. Plus, its top-to-bottom redesign is sharp, slim and feather-light. The iPhone 5 completely rebuilds the iPhone on a framework of new features and design, addressing its major previous shortcomings. It’s absolutely the best iPhone to date, and it easily secures its place in the top tier of the smartphone universe.

The display is similar to that of the Galaxy S4 Mini but is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core Exynos 4212 processor.
