I get confronted all the time in my life with people saying that sales it is not a profession, it`s not a respectable career or that salesmen are rude people. Most of the individuals I encounter don`t like the idea of being paid in commissions, they find it`s not a safe position to be in. I used to be like this, I hated sales, couldn't stand it until I got thrown myself into Real Estate selling. My perception changed, I started to get more confident every day, talking to customers, handling objections, closing deals, I was doing something that I hated and started to enjoy.

The fact is that most of the people don`t even know how to sell themselves, let alone sell a house or a car. The reason why people don`t like to talk about money is that they don`t have any. The reason why people don`t like sales is that they don`t know how to sell. Just look around you... life is a sale. Let`s put things into perspective: convincing your spouse to marry you, your parents to give you money, convincing a boss to give you a job or asking for a discount in your local clothing store, all of these things are an act of selling, whether is selling yourself, an idea or a will. Everything in life is a sale and a commission. The commission of convincing your spouse to marry you is to spend the rest of your life with the person you love, the commission of your boss giving you a promotion is a raise in your salary, the commission of you asking for a discount is that you bought the clothes at a cheaper cost.
