67 million Americans have some form of heart disease or blood-vessel disease  1 million Americans die from a heart attack every year  69 million people have high blood pressure  31 million people have diabetes associated with obesity and physical inactivity  108 million adults are obese or overweight  300,000 preventable deaths each year are caused by modifiable, behavioral patterns 

$300 billion is lost annually by American industries from stress-related reasons  $246 billion is lost annually by American industry from alcoholism and drug abuse  $200 billion annually is spent for treatment and lost productivity from obesity-related illness  $100 billion is lost annually to American businesses from chronic pain  132 million workdays a year are lost because of stress-related absenteeism and lost productivity 
