INDUSTRY, CORPORATE, AND PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS
PVAMU R&I continues to grow private industry and corporate. When it comes to strategic partnerships and expanding the service reach of Prairie View A&M, the university has done exceptionally well building upon our existing partnerships, while establishing new and more diverse commitments.
Vice President Magesh Rajan structured the partnerships with large corporations, smallscale startup companies, and various industry organizations looking to commercialize our intellectual property and provide research and development opportunities for faculty and students to be engaged in startup entrepreneurship process. The collaborations are numerous, diverse, and effective. Each opportunity elevates Prairie View A&M’s purview and its visibility from the Greater Houston area and Texas, and across the nation and internationally.
R&I and ICEED capitalized on the interests from industries in the agricultural and human sciences (College of Agriculture), executing several MOU’s Master Research Agreements, etc. These are significant accomplishments that will provide avenues for commercialization, research funding, and growing agricultural capabilities for the college, university, and the region, especially growing the agricultural intellectual property (IP) portfolio of PVAMU, Texas Land Grant Institution.
o Accenture-Microsoft: Student-centered creditbased experiential learning program in the new Innovation District community in Houston, TX.
o Millennium Engineering and Integration (MEI)
Company: To pursue Wallops Flight Facility’s NASA Balloon Operations Contract.
o National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) /U.S. Department of Commerce
o Diversity Fund Houston (DFH): In collaboration
with College of Business, to develop infrastructure and enhance PVAMU Entrepreneurial and Venture Community.
o USDA-Grambling, State-Alcorn, State-
Savannah State Univ: HBCU partnerships for digitally-enabled rural communities.
o BioMADE Institute: Partnered and won the Department of Defense contract and became a member of Bioindustrial Manufacturing And Design Ecosystem.
o Farmacopia Farms, LLC: Active genetic research projects on fruits and vegetables at PV Cooperative Agricultural Research Center (CARC).
o Bayou City Hemp Company, LLC: Funded
research for CARC researchers on industrial hemp processing.
o Tetra Hemp Company, LLC: Funded research for
CARC researchers on industrial hemp processing.
o RioCoco Farms, LLC: Funded research to improve the plants' genetic makeup for maximum growth potential and expanding variety of plants.
o Eden PMB Farms LLC: Collaboration on industrial hemp, hemp biomass, and oil.
In 2021, R&I established new partnerships with the following organizations:
o Sandia National Lab: Securing Top Academic Research & Talent for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (START HBCU) initiative. established 3 faculty research projects.
o Texas A&M University-Division of Research: Panther RISE (PRISE) Grant Program. Supported 30 faculty on multi-institutional, collaborative, and interdisciplinary research projects.
o Shell Corporation: Establishing multiple collaborative research projects in carbon capture, biofuels, and nature-based solutions for renewable energy.
In addition, ICEED initiated business collaboration discussions with eleven new industry partners. They are Alcyone, LLC, Agrarian Technologies, LLC, Adiamoto, Inc., Schiele Energy Enterprises, KJ Scientific, LLC, Parsons Government Services, Inc., Eden Green Technology, FMC Technologies, Texas Instruments, Inc., Polaris, Inc., and Coca-Cola, Inc.
