INTRODUCTION
02/ 32
Hello!
My name is Vinati. I’m a young designer who learns fast and designs passionately. I’m currently pursuing my
Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication and Strategic Branding, Srishti School of Art and Design.
As a growing designer, I find inspiration in interesting
stories, people and conversations around me. In my free time I draw out my thoughts, binge eat desserts and try my best to stay hydrated.

The Print Manual PUBLICATION DESIGN / BOOK DESIGN / PRINT /
This book outlines the basics of printing processes and techniques, a guide for all those new to the printing industry.
Information comes to you in many forms: the
visuals on your toothpaste, the packaging of your
cereal, billboards and bus shelters. Design itself, is only the first step. It is important when conceiving a new design that the entire workflow is take into
consideration. The many ways that a design can be printed are varied and complex, but having some
knowledge about how the print process works will create a more successful project.
I gathered a better understanding of how to navigate the printing industry, something I
realized was necessary for me as a graphic
designer. From site visits to offset printers to researching the history of printing, this book encompasses everything I have learnt about printing techniques.

Packaging Spaces PACKAGING DESIGN /
PUBLICATION DESIGN / PRINT /
To choose 3 different spaces in Bangalore
(localities, tourist spots, spaces of entertainment
etc), Identify key features of all of these spaces and then visualize each one of their unique qualities using colour, typography and illustration.
The packaging of each place is unique and has its own characteristics. The process involved gathering first hand data through site visits and interviews, analysing it and coming up
with insights on how to translate it into visual language.
PROJECT 02 / 11
The overwhelming presence of the
flowers and the energy around them are quite contradictory. You would
usually picture flowers in quite, serene environment. But when combined
with the energetic environment of the
market, the flowers gain more life, and become more than just objects of beauty, they become a story. A1 POSTER

JAWAHARLAL NEHRU PLANETERIUM The planetarium is a place where one can engage with something intangible, and expand their
knowledge of the universe. The air is filled with
excitement and the overwhelming presence of the universe contained in a single room with curiosity running wild.
Demographic mostly children accompanied by
parents or teachers. Kids were restless and easily fascinated.
This packaging quite literally brings a piece of the
night sky to the audience. A part of the night sky in your palms.

Collage, The Magazine PUBLICATION DESIGN / BOOK DESIGN / PRINT /
Collage is a hypothetical magazine that finds its
way into the hands of everyone- alike and different at the same time. A bit of this and a bit of that – to
inspire and engage larger audiences. It was founded in August 2018, by students of Srishti Institute of
Design. This magazine was a part of a course where 27 students created their own versions of Collage. While layouting, it was important to not just
design with a grid, but design the grid itself.

Let Your Inner Child Shine PUBLICATION DESIGN / BOOK DESIGN /
ILLUSTRATION / PRINT /
Let Your Inner Child Shine is a small handbook
exploring children’s relationship with creativity and reminding you to consider taking a few cues from the little ones in your life.
The appeal of childhood is strong, especially
when facing the reality, and responsibilities, of being an adult. But age is inevitable. However,
does growing older correlate with a decline in
creativity? Or rather, does adulthood stifle the creative mind?

Interviews with Kids
Visited a preschool and talked to kids aged 5 - 10 years. To improve communicate with them, I also asked them to draw out answers, and observed patterns in how their mind worked. Interviews with Adults
Enabled for deeper questioning regarding life’s pleasures, regrets and other fears. Questions
included “What made you change your mind?” and “Are you happy with where you are right now?”.
Noted how mind patterns and situationary reactions evolve as we experience more.

Tissue Issues PACKAGING DESIGN / ILLUSTRATION / BRANDING / PRINT /
This project involved making alternate packaging out of existing packaging as an effort towards
sustainable packaging. With the terta-pack milk
carton as my existing packaging, I tried to utilise its form to its best abilities and transformed it into a new tissue paper box.
Tissue Issues is a box of tissues catering to
anyone going through a rough patch in life. It takes on a comical yet comforting tone.

Two Left Feet PACKAGING DESIGN / ILLUSTRATION / PRINT /
Two Left Feet is an attempt to picture myself as a product sold in the market.
The term ‘ to have two left feet’ means to be clumsy
or awkward. The irony being socks, unlike shoes can be worn on any foot-left or right. It also references to the product being two different mismatched
socks, and hence brings out the ‘weird’ in them. Socks represent dependability and warmth,
which is what I would stand for as a product.
Mismatched socks in particular since they’re quirky yet odd.

Pachadi, Chutney Aur Aachar PUBLICATION DESIGN / BOOK DESIGN / PRINT /
Ranging from spicy to sweet, Indian pickles and
chutneys are the perfect accompaniment to a main dish. Pachadi, Chutney Aur Achar is an illustrated
recipe book of these side-dishes mastered by my grandma over the years.
While illustrating, I experimented with discovering various angles of the processes involved.
Movement is established in the illustrations by
depicted processes in the recipes in a dynamic
exploded way, inspired by slow motion shots of food shown on television shows.

mindmapping what I wanted to showcase to my clients and translating it into visual language.
Through visuals ( colour and typography mostly) I
chose to represent myself as a young and excited aspiring designer with a knack for hand-skills. Deliverables listed below : 1. Curriculum Vitae 2. Business Cards 3. Portfolio Book
4. Introductory film

Printer’s Mark ILLUSTRATION / LINOCUT /
HAND SKILLS / PRINT /
A printers mark is a device or a stamp used by early 15th century printers, that identifies a book as
the work of a particular printer. The mark is usually
personal to the printer and represents the printer as a person. It also stands as a copyright symbol.
This printers mark was made using Linotype method of printing. The process involved
creating a negative of the design which was then carved out, coated with paint and printed. It was
interesting to work with the negative and linotype as a medium.
