Football Intro
PVI Football was established in 1984. Coach Michael Grandizio (Coach “G”) took over the program for PVI as the head coach in 2017. He has taken a very simple but effective approach on building the PVI Football team. To have success, he believes you need to define the pillars that make up a program and a team identity. Coach G is committed to teaching three values that make up “ALL IN.” These values are punctuality, hard work, and be a person of integrity.
Once again, a very simple phrase (ALL IN), but on the field an entire team needs to be locked into one goal and these goals can only be met through togetherness, commitment to each other, and the ALL IN values. Coach G is dedicated to the growth of the young men he coaches not only as football players, but more importantly as future leaders in society.
The 2024 football year looks promising with 110 players suiting up for the Panthers. This increase in number not only boosted the varsity and junior varsity levels, but this year PVI will again field a separate freshman team. Everyone is behind the Panthers for the 2024 season.
MEET THE COACHES
Varsity Head Coach - Michael Grandizio
Coach Grandizio “G”
I grew up playing football for legendar y coach Dave Wildonger of William High School of the East Penn Conference in Southeastern Pennsylvania. As a youth, I played every position before settling in at defensive end for the last three years of my playing career.
Af ter moving to Virginia, I started coaching as an assistant in Fairfax County at Oakton and Lake Braddock High Schools, primarily on defense at all levels, before coming to Paul VI as the head strength and conditioning coach in 2007.
I fell in love with PVI right away. Along with the principles and values that make our school, the people here are tremendous. Being here for over a decade and coaching multiple sports and students in our strength program, PVI has become home to me. In 2017, I jumped at the opportunity to coach football again and to take over our program.
I reside in the City of Fairfax with my loving wife, Lisa; my beautiful daughter, Giada; and my mini-me, Joey.
Our football program will see continued success because of the strong support from our administration, athletic community, and the hard work of our student-athletes. All in!
