Hello Camp Parents and Campers! I want to thank all of you who were with us last summer and welcome you back. Camp 2018 was a great summer, filled with fun and adventure. For those of you who might be new to our programs, we are so glad you found your way to Prince William County Parks, Recreation & Tourism and we look forward to spending time with your family this summer. It is hard to believe that another summer is upon us! However, rest assured, camp is a yearlong commitment for our camp managers. We have been busily planning, looking back on previous summer’s challenges and successes so that we can move forward to make our 2019 camp programs shine brighter! It is hard to imagine that when you are signing your child up for a summer camp program that what you are really signing them up for is a life changing experience. Not only are camp activities fun, they also provide a platform for your child to gain confidence through trying new things and taking risks. Their interactions at camp will instill leadership skills by allowing campers to take the reins from time to time to decide on the day’s activities; a camper’s circle of friendship grows through sharing new adventures and building trust; a sense of independence also cultivates making it easier for children to embark out on their own. By registering your child for summer camp, it gives them a way to explore their creativity by setting down that phone, backing away from the computer or TV and engaging in indoor and outdoor activities that promote conversations and interactions with others. Never underestimate the Power of Camp! So let the adventure begin! As you look through this year’s camp guide, you will be able to choose from over 400 camp offerings. We know everyone’s needs are different and that is why you will see an assortment of formats, ages, pricing, topics areas and settings. Whether you are looking for full day traditional camp options, special interest camps, outdoor adventure or to explore something new, we are sure to have the camp for you! We look forward to seeing you this summer and know that the experience your child has, in one of our camp programs, will leave an impression on them that will last a lifetime. Here is to a fun and safe summer! Lisa Herr Children’s Program Manager Prince William County Parks, Recreation & Tourism

Mrs. Katherine is the best teacher ever. My daughter liked playing with the animals, giraffes yellow and orange. We liked the sensory bins shared with parents; also, I was shown around the learning trails as far as the bridge. She was exited to share her camp experiences. She really liked playing on the stumps and balance beams in the woods. -Summer Camp Parent, 2018

LATITUDE 38
AGES 6-14
Lake Ridge Park is filled with trails, creeks, wooded areas and even has its own marina right on the Occoquan Reservoir. Latitude 38 Campers will be involved in a variety of activities such as hiking, learning about nature, kayaking on the water and many more outdoor activities. Each week, special activities that are related to the weekly theme, will also be added into our camp schedule. Weekly off-site excursions and swimming at a Prince William County pool round out our summer of fun. Please note that Lake Ridge Park Campers will spend the majority of their day outdoor; however, we do have access to shelter for inclement weather days. Each week campers will experience an onsite event or field tip. Field trips are subject to change, but will include trips such as Museums, working farms, bowling, SplashDown, indoor rock climbing and more. DISCOVERER Planting Seeds of Discovery
