TWO GREAT NURSERIES, ONE INCREDIBLE JOURNEY,

ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES

At King’s Worcester we are lucky to have two wonderfully unique Early Years settings within our Family of Schools. King’s Hawford Kindergarten, located to the North of Worcester, offers children a ‘free range’ start to their education journey with plenty of opportunities to explore the rural setting. Whilst King’s St Alban’s Nursery, located in the City Centre, is an oasis of calm that encourages learning through play. Children learn to play and play to learn in what is essentially a child-led setting. Wherever you decide to start the King’s

School journey, your child will benefit from the same caring and inclusive philosophy that underpins our Early Years Ethos. We believe that it is incredibly important to ensure that these formative years are happy ones. Happy children thrive and this is at the heart of our approach. The emphasis lies very much in caring for and nurturing each child so they feel secure, cared for and confident at school and are happy and excited to return each day. This is achieved by making sure our settings offer a warm and nurturing, home from

home environment which provides the stability young children need to develop confidence and independence. At the same time we ensure that the breadth of opportunities and activities available introduces them to the fun and adventure that awaits as they start their King’s education journey. If you would like to learn more about Early Years at King’s please come along to one of our June Opening Mornings: ksw.org.uk/earlyyears. n

MALVERN ST JAMES Malvern St James is a leading independent school in Great Malvern, Worcestershire, for girls aged 4-18. What helps to make us distinct and refreshing, is our recognition and active support for the individual talents, interests and passions of girls, and the liberating and inclusive ethos the school embraces. MSJ doesn’t produce a ‘type’ of girl. We achieve excellent academic results but we are not an exam factory. Our ethos is one of inclusion and respect. Girls can pursue their passions and interests in the field of their choice – all routes are equal. It may be horse riding, engineering, politics, the environment or climbing. We recognise the importance of allowing each individual to grow and flourish. We find ways to support girls to achieve their passions.

A school that helps girls to truly develop their thinking skills, to explore who they are and to develop the courage and selfbelief to go out into the world and be true to who they are. If you would like to arrange a tour of Malvern St James, please contact Admissions on 01684 584624 or by email admissions@malvernstjames.co.uk. n

We nurture a freedom of spirit, respect for others and support of every member of our school community. LOSE WEIGHT & STAY YOUNG WITH TAEKWONDO! Children benefit in a big way from the discipline of martial arts training at such a young age. All young students of Tae Kwon-Do are taught the importance of being polite and courteous, being honest to others and themselves, persevering with all that life throws at them, keeping their emotions and temper under control and being brave and strong people. This discipline we teach stretches to life outside Tae Kwon-Do and helps to develop young minds in a positive way. Taekwondo can work at YOUR pace. Our abilities within your local clubs range from Para-Taekwondo to World Champion, ages from 4 to 70. If you would like the opportunity to compete in Taekwondo we have many opportunities including a gateway program to the Olympic trials.

This year, hit all your summer goals in one with the UKs fastest growing Sport! Tae Kwon-Do is the key to complete physical and mental wellbeing and it is suitable for all ages and abilities! Forget that boring treadmill or the same old class down the gym, time to engage the mind and challenge the body with Taekwondo. You wont have to watch your diet as closely since your average class burns 100’s of extra calories! But not just

your waist will benefit; you will keep a healthy heart, help aid ailments such as arthritis, strengthen immune system, relieve tension and stress, enhance flexibility, build core strength, improve balance, build strength of body & mind, challenge yourself every session, have fun, meet new friends and lead a positive healthy lifestyle! The all-round balance of Tae Kwon-Do works against the effects of age and can actually help reduce the aging process, including keeping a sharp and active mind!

The Tae Kwon-Do Association of Great Britain is the largest single martial arts association in Europe, a founding member of the British Taekwondo Council which is recognised by Sport UK as the only governing body for sports in the UK. Their schools are spread across the breadth of the country and classes can be found 7 days a week in your local area, taught by highly qualified and experienced instructors and monitored closely by the governing bodies. TAGB schools are among the few that still practise Tae Kwon-Do in its traditional form. Beginners classes are starting now across Worcestershire and the West Midlands. To locate your local schools or for more information call now on 07885 293088. All Callers will receive 2 free trial sessions at the venue of their choice!

FAMILY-RUN FINE DINING RESTAURANT HAS BEEN

SHORTLISTED FOR TWO MIDLANDS AWARDS

A Herefordshire based fine dining restaurant, Green Cow Kitchens, has been shortlisted as a finalist in two categories in the Midlands Awards 2019. Green Cow Kitchens has been shortlisted in the ‘Sustainable/Ethical Manufacturer’ and ‘Food & Drink’ categories of the acclaimed awards and will now come up against the region’s elite for the coveted accolade.

The family-run restaurant, born in 2012, was renovated from an old pigsty on the Whitbourne Estate. Since its opening, Green Cow Kitchens has been showcasing the very best that the farm can produce. All food is reared on the farm and the tasting menu remains seasonal throughout the year with chefs foraging for wild garlic, hedgerow berries and fruit. What isn’t grown on the farm is sourced from local suppliers.

16

Primary Times May Half Term 2019

The highly successful restaurant draws guests both locally and nationally to try the unique monthly tasting menus, created with the help of Chef, Patrick McDonald, who previously ran his own Michelin starred restaurant. The elite judging panel of industry experts whittled almost 70 entries down to the eventual finalists and will announce the overall winners at the awards ceremony on Thursday, 2nd May at the Macdonald Burlington Hotel, Birmingham. The Made in the Midlands Awards 2019 are organised by Insider Media, the UK’s most successful regional B2B media company. Joe Evans, managing director and founder of Green Cow Kitchens said “We’re absolutely delighted to be shortlisted for not only one, but two awards! Just being shortlisted for these awards is a testament

to the hard work our family-run team have put into creating a restaurant that showcases our lovingly reared produce and selection of local produce.” The power couple behind Green Cow Kitchens, Joe and Keeley, are set to open a luxury events venue later this year, as they were inspired to share their magnificent estate and mouth-watering food offering on a much larger scale. Crumplebury is set to open in October and will consist of a beautiful banqueting hall, lounge, bar and 13 luxury bedrooms. Green Cow Kitchens has also recently been shortlisted in the Family Business of the Year category at this year’s Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber Business awards. For more information on Green Cow Kitchens, please visit www.greencowkitchens.co.uk.

GEEKY GADGET GIRL Back in June 2017, Claire decided to start an IT Consultancy alongside doing her degree in Computer Science and Cyber Security. She is passionate about protecting families and small businesses against online crime and was keen to offer them the benefits of her knowledge with all Windows, Apple and Android devices. Her feeling was that smart devices were getting smarter and more technical much more quickly than people were able to keep up with. “Sometimes people feel embarrassed that they don’t know what all the settings do and don’t know who to ask as the younger members of their family do everything far too quickly for them

to learn anything from them” said Claire “I work at my clients speed and write everything down for them to refer to later. I have found that most people are quite unaware of what makes a good password, often using the same password for multiple accounts – which is a hacker’s dream! I have easy ways to help you protect all your online accounts without having to remember lots of complicated passwords.” Claire now looks after many local businesses and is on call to lots of families around Malvern and Worcester.
