PREPARATORY SCHOOL and emotionally intelligent young people, equipped to make a real difference at their senior schools and in their subsequent lives.
Feltonfleet is a leading day and flexi-boarding school for boys and girls aged 3-13, set in 25 acres of landscaped grounds with exceptional facilities and within easy access of South-West London and the Southern Home Counties. What makes Feltonfleet the first choice school for so many parents is the integrity and practice of our core belief that every individual really matters. This conviction is underpinned by our values-driven ethos and our strong sense of community. Our excellent teaching and first class facilities provide a vibrant and exciting experience that enables our pupils to reach Destination 13 as happy, independent, confident, resilient, empathetic, tolerant
In September 2018, the school once again achieved the highest possible results in the ISI inspection, receiving “excellent” grades for both the quality of the pupils’ academic achievements and their personal development and, in summer 2019, in response to overwhelming demand for places, work began on development of the Pre-Prep to two-form entry, in addition to considerable investment in enhanced facilities for Science, Technology and Music in the Prep School. Halstead is an independent school with a Christian ethos and family atmosphere for girls from Nursery aged 2 to 11 years. Every girl is known and taught as an individual in a stimulating environment filled with encouragement, challenge and plenty of fun. All pupils are given an excellent and thorough preparation for senior school entry (the academic results speak for themselves), but most importantly they are helped to lay the foundations for a happy, healthy and successful life. In the Nursery girls may attend parttime or full-time (we recommend at least 3 of the available 10 sessions a week) as they enjoy their first stages of early education in the caring and nurturing Early Years setting. Within our beautiful environment the girls all benefit from a wide range of opportunities in firstclass facilities for learning and play as well as the expertise and enthusiasm of well-qualified specialist teachers. The three courts and open green space provide plenty of opportunities for sports including netball, hockey, rounders,
Our large hall and stage enables every girl to perform in a production every year and the music suite allows for lively class music lessons as well as individual instrumental lessons and chance to sing in choirs and play ensembles. In addition to the core subjects French, music, drama, dance, gymnastics are also enjoyed by all. Investigative skills as scientists develop in the bespoke science laboratory and creative skills are honed in the Art and Design Technology classroom while culinary delights are created in the Food Technology classroom. Digital Technology is used across the curriculum as a learning tool with an up to date ICT suite, interactive whiteboards and iPads for pupils to use. A wide range of extra-curricular activities, outings and visiting speakers enhance our broad curriculum. We work closely with parents as they choose the senior school that is right for their daughter and are proud of the girls’ achievements with a long history of excellent results and scholarships. Girls may join Halstead in any year where a space becomes available. You are warmly invited to visit our happy school in action on any school day or on our next Open Morning on Friday 4th October. n

Situated in beautiful grounds, just outside of Farnham, Barfield School is a co-educational Independent Preparatory School. Our central belief is that our children should be happy and positively challenged and that this leads to high achievement. We pride ourselves on finding the right balance between excellent academic teaching, exceptional pastoral care and outstanding outdoor learning and sporting facilities. This has been formally recognised by the Independent Schools Inspectorate, which awarded us ‘Excellent’ in all categories. Primary Times Back to School 2019
From Nursery onwards, we fully embrace a creative curriculum, with the understanding that instilling a love of learning through interactive, hands-on experience, is at the heart of creating motivated learners and bringing out the passion, energy and commitment in each child. From Pirates’ Day, a Castle Workshop, French Day, German Day, Portuguese Day, World Book Day, Easter Hats, trips to the aquarium, Marwell Zoo, Windsor Castle and the local church - to name but a few examples - our Pre-Prep experience an exciting learning environment. The introduction of our Mighty Writer Scheme has been a huge success, allowing story writing skills and vocabulary to develop far earlier. All this fun and interactive learning has paid dividends, with results far exceeding predicted levels, across the Year Groups. Pupils at Barfield make good use of our glorious grounds. Our award-winning Three Peaks Outdoor Pursuits Centre provides our children with unique opportunities to develop essential life skills such as teamwork, collaboration, resilience and self-esteem. Our children have the chance to take part in sport every day; training and participating in a huge variety from Football, Netball, Hockey, Cricket, Rounders, Tag Rugby and Swimming to Triathalons and Aquathons. The Annual Arts Week not only fosters children’s technical skills, but also continues to build confidence in their unique talents
and individuality, with every child creating a wonderful range of artwork, using different media and materials, to develop sculptures, masks, figurines and paintings, under the theme of ‘Only One You’. Unlocking of creative talent continues through a plethora of drama and music activities which span our Annual Senior Production, a festival of Rhythm and Rhyme, workshops in global music genres and concerts. There is no doubt that Barfield has a special magic; a family atmosphere and a caring and friendly community. We would love to welcome you so that you can experience it for yourself. 2019 Open Mornings: Friday 13 September (all years) or Friday 4th October (Pre-Prep). IS IT YOUR TIME TO
TRAIN TO TEACH? primary and secondary schools - we have staff development, with outstanding learning and teaching, at the core of everything we do.
GLF Schools’ Teacher Training is an alliance of highly successful schools in Surrey and beyond, with a very strong history of providing exceptional ITT since 2013.
We believe that the best place for trainee teachers to learn how to become excellent classroom practitioners is in schools. As a provider of initial teacher training, we provide a one-year programme for high quality graduates to train. Our trainees spend the majority of their time in a school environment, whilst receiving high quality support and training. Learning in this way means that trainees feel part of the school community. It allows schools to grow their own and offers successful trainees a long-term career pathway that goes well beyond initial teacher training. Working with an alliance of highly successful early years settings,
Trainees will be trained in a highly supportive and aspirational environment and will develop the rigour, professional knowledge, understanding and skills necessary for the delivery of creative, purposeful and challenging teaching and learning in early years settings, primary and secondary schools. ‘Becoming a teacher is a privilege.
