So much to do, so little time!
Welcome to a new and exciting year of the Love It program! Embrace and enjoy a program of fun and fulfilling activities that have been put together especially for you. We want everyone to participate, get the most out of what is on offer and, most importantly, have fun.
In this booklet, you will find a wide range of activities planned for the upcoming term, but if none of them tickle your fancy, please don’t hesitate to put forward your own suggestions so that we can make them happen.

Week 1
FRIDAY 3 TO SUNDAY 5 FEBRUARY
WHAT Community Weekend
Get ready for an action-packed, super fun start to the year with our Community Weekend.
We have plenty of fun in store including a race around the Sydney CBD to help familiarise our new Boarders around our beautiful city where you will catch a train, bus and ferry and have the chance to take some excellent photographs along the way.
On Sunday, we will venture out to Raging Waters Sydney for some awesome water slide action.
The weekend will conclude with our traditional new girls’ concert, so make sure you put your thinking caps on and prepare a creative item for the concert. Angus Cup points are up for grabs all weekend long.

WHAT Boarders Get Baking – it’s back!
Get set for another year of fabulous food with Mrs White, our very own domestic goddess, in our beautiful Food Technology room. Oreo slice is on the menu followed by some delicious milkshakes in the flavour of your choosing. Make sure you bring some requests for future baking afternoons.

SATURDAY 11 FEBRUARY
WHAT Become a Golf Pro
This is probably not what you were thinking for a Saturday evening activity, but based on the last golf adventure, we promise this will be lots of fun. Jump on the bus, head to the local driving range and hone your swing and accuracy, all ready to learn the joys of golfing.

WHAT Sydney Harbour Bridge Walk and The Rocks Markets
Catch the train to Milsons Point, head up the stairs and start your walk across the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge. Climb the 200 stairs in the 87-metre-high pylon for 360-degree views of the city. On the other side you will find the The Rocks Markets. Have a look around the stalls for local crafts and street food before heading back to Pymble on the train.

Enjoy the delights of a twilight food fair – a firm favourite with families – and make the most of the balmy summer evenings in Sydney. With a great variety of tasty international cuisines, live music and a fun program of activities, it’s no wonder why this is such a popular event.

Let’s go catch a movie at the cinema! Grab some popcorn and a choc-top and settle in for the evening. As the weekend draws closer, Mrs White will be checking out the best newly released movies for all of us to enjoy.

We will make our way to Manly, walk to the beautiful Shelly Beach and check out (or maybe have a dip in) the famous Fairy Bower pool along the way. Be sure to bring some spending money for a Ben and Jerry’s ice cream back in Manly.

WHAT Beach Day – Wylie’s Baths and the Coogee Coastal Walk
Wylie’s Baths is a heritage-listed tidal swimming pool located near Coogee Beach, in the eastern suburbs of Sydney. The baths are noted for holding the first Australian Swimming Championships and for being one of the first swimming baths for mixed-gender swimming in Australia.

Grab your activewear and swimming gear for a great adventure to Palm Beach (better known as Summer Bay in Home and Away) as we venture up Smugglers Track for one of the best views in Sydney. To the north, you will see to the Central Coast, to the south views of the beautiful Northern Beaches and to the west the magnificent Pittwater. Cool off after the walk with a dip at Pittwater or maybe a milkshake at the Boathouse.

WHAT International Women’s Day Movie Night in the JLT

WHAT Adventure to Watsons Bay for a Picnic Lunch
Catch the train to Circular Quay, jump on a ferry and head off to the iconic Watsons Bay. Home to the famous Doyles fish and chips restaurant, grab a takeaway lunch and sit in the park, swim in one of the harbour beaches or walk up to the Gap, a famous Sydney lookout.

WHAT Invite a Day Girl – Social Tennis and Barbecue
Grab your racquet and invite one of your day girl buddies to your Boarding home for an evening of tennis and a relaxing barbecue. There will be prizes for those who are willing to enter our round robin. Entries must be submitted to Mrs White by Thursday afternoon.

WHAT Drama Production – A Chorus Line
Performing Arts at Pymble is always a class act. This year the girls will be presenting A Chorus Line. This 1975 musical by the famed Marvin Hamlisch is set on Broadway and is centered around 17 Broadway dancers auditioning for spots on a chorus line. The production provides a glimpse into the personalities of the performers and the choreographers as they describe the events that have shaped their lives and their decisions to become dancers. This is a production not to be missed!

WHAT Boarding Family Friends Pizza and Movie Night
As many of our Boarding parents return to Sydney to catch up with the other parents at the College Icebreaker event, we will be opening the doors of the Boarding House for family friends of our Boarders. We welcome the day girls over to enjoy pizza and a movie while the parents mingle on Gloucester Lawn. This is always a great opportunity for our Boarding and day girl families to meet prior to Icebreaker.

WHAT Mega Skate at Macquarie Ice
For over thirty years, Sydney’s iconic Macquarie Ice Rink has been both a playground and training facility to all levels of skating from recreational, national, international and Olympic champions. Located within Macquarie Shopping Centre, there will probably be some time for a little look around the shops, too!
It is the only facility in Sydney to provide a full-size Olympic rink so channel your inner Torvill and Dean (ask your parents!) and enjoy some time in the cool.

WHAT Manly Surf n Slide
Manly Surf n Slide is a dream water destination for students – non-stop, fast and furious fun. An iconic outdoor water playground with three great slides, heated water and an onsite coffee shop, it’s located right on the harbour at Manly. Girls can keep active, slide away and perhaps head down to the corso for ice cream afterwards.

SUNDAY 2 APRIL
WHAT Balmoral Swim for Cancer
Last year our Boarders raised over $1,500 for the Children’s Cancer Charity. Can we top this record in 2023? This is an excellent social opportunity for Boarders as we compete against Shore, Queenwood, Ascham, Wenona, Redlands and Riverview. Get a team of four swimmers together and come on down to Balmoral to join in the fun. You only have to swim 200 metres and remember the aim of the day is to raise money for charity.

If you have an exciting activity in mind, get together with a group of friends and put together a proposal. Whether it’s a night out at a favourite restaurant, a trip to a local market or an inner-city expedition, get your ideas down on paper, suggest a date and we will do our best to make it happen.
ORGANISE A SLEEPOVER
We would love you to invite a friend from the Day School to stay over on a Friday or Saturday night. Propose some dates to your Head of Year and make it happen!
OR BETTER STILL…
Invite up to two of your friends from the day school in for a pizza and movie night. Once again, propose some dates to your Head of Year and make it happen!

Come on in and bake until you drop! We are all stocked up ready for you to create your masterpieces.
BOARDERS GET BAKING
All of you seem to love baking and we know you LOVE yummy food. Take the opportunity to work with Mrs Wiedemann in our specialist Food Technology room and bake until your heart is content and your tummy is full. Each week she comes with interesting new recipes, from Mars bar slice and brownies to Wallget’s famous Weet-Bix slice. Boarders Get Baking is the place to be on Friday afternoons.
