Sarah Gafvert - Living the Life She Wants It’s not every day that you meet someone with as much passion and enthusiasm for life as Sarah Gafvert. Having the drive and determination to not only succeed in life, but to do so with flying colors, Sarah Gafvert has pursued life with a vigor that inspires and motivates those around her. Currently working as a registered nurse for a plastic surgeon in Houston, Texas, Sarah has blazed her own trail, getting what she wants out of life and all it has to offer. Now a 23-year-old registered nurse, Sarah spends much of her time working at Ciaravino Plastic Surgery for Michael Ciaravino, MD FACS. She has a long list of duties and responsibilities at Ciaravino Plastic Surgery, including collecting medical histories, performing assessments, initiating plans of care based on patient needs, assisting the surgeon in surgery, monitoring patients in pre-op, intra-op, and postoperative during total intravenous sedation and general anesthesia, generating detailed operative reports for surgeries, and is responsible for communicating patient status to their families. Before her time working for Ciaravino Plastic Surgery, Sarah Gafvert was incredibly active in every aspect of life, excelling in academics and participating in numerous extra-curricular activities. Since her start in education, Sarah has maintained a studious demeanor, achieving honors throughout her time in high school and college. She held a 4.0 GPA during high school, leading her to become valedictorian of her graduating class, and was a nursing honor student throughout college, maintaining a 3.5 GPA. She loves music and theater and participated in numerous theater productions in high school. She also loves to dance, having competitively danced for 15 years. She studied all different types of dance, but particularly enjoyed and excelled in ballet. She is a passionate animal lover, having the dream of opening and operating a no-kill, non-profit animal shelter in her local community someday. Sarah Gafvert was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 21 while she was still in college. Her new condition motivated her to become more involved with organizations dedicated to researching and combating the disease. She has devoted much of her time to volunteering for organizations like the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the American Diabetes Association in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She hopes to one day become a diabetic educator at the Houston Children’s Hospital so that she might have a lasting positive impact on children who have been newly diagnosed with the disease. Sarah Gafvert is the passionate, hard working, loyal friend that most people can hope to have.
