Betty S. Egger Retires, Closes Dog Training Business In the town of Mercer Island, Washington lived Betty S. Egger. For twenty years, Egger owned and ran her business out of her home. Egger’s business dealt with the training and boarding of dogs. Within the town, Egger is known as “The Dog Lady not only because of her business but because she could often be seen walking her five dogs down the road and around her neighborhood. Mercer Island residents were happy to have this local hero around the neighborhood. Betty S. Egger showed herself to be a hero of sorts because of her dedication to her job and her love for dogs. Outspoken about the importance of proper dog training and the overall treatment of dogs, Egger created a name for herself in the town. Recently, Betty S. Egger decided it was time to hang up her leash and retire from her full time business. Those who attended her training sessions were sad to here about the retirement of one of the best trainers in the area, but were glad to have had her while she was available. In fact, there were some residents that tried their best to convince Egger to continue her business. However, Betty S. Egger believed that it was time for a new chapter in her life. Egger appreciates the support of her neighborhood and that she was able to accomplish her dream job for so long. Betty S. Egger says that she is looking forward to resting and caring for her family, which includes five dogs that she owns. Though Egger may be stepping down from her business, she will not be stepping out of her public scene. As previously stated, Egger is outspoken about major dog issues. To help fight against shelters that terminate their animals, Egger spends her time volunteering for no-kill shelters, fundraising for them and advocating their business. As a contributor of resources, Betty S. Egger works hard to raise money for the no-kill shelters in the Seattle, WA area. Though not completely removing herself from dog training, Betty S. Egger says that she will keep in contact with some dog owners. Egger says that she will work more as a consultant for dog owners who are in dire need of training help. Though Egger is no longer training the dogs herself, her presence is still felt in the dog training community since she has trained others in the community who she believes can train dogs just as well as she did for so many years.
