Daryl Harrison - The Waiting Game

Daryl Harrison - The Waiting Game Daryl Harrison is the author of the wildly popular indie mystery The Waiting Game. Harrison says that his process for the novel was unusual. He wrote ninety percent of the first draft in one night, staying up until dawn after a long day teaching. Harrison finished the first draft of the book in one week, rarely sleeping and barely staying awake for his classes. He says it wasn’t the most productive week for the kids or for him, and he hopes his students at the time forgive him. Harrison says that the experience of writing his novel was one of the most exhilarating of his life, and that’s the reason he decided to move to New York with his wife Abby Raines, to pursue a more traditional literary career. Daryl Harrison says that writing and publishing his own book was like watching a child being born and growing up right before his eyes. Harrison had to groom his manuscript through several levels of editing and publishing expertise before the book first became available on Amazon’s Kindle download service. Harrison’s novel received excellent reviews once it became available for download, and he decided to sell print copies as well. Once the book began to pick up steam, it became available on bookshelves throughout the country, and its sales skyrocketed beyond anything Harrison expected. Daryl Harrison first submitted his novel to an agent to sell it to a large, traditional publishing house in New York. After months of publishing houses rejecting Harrison’s novel, his agent came to Harrison and told him to try independent publishing. It was this vote of confidence that Harrison says kept him working and trying to get the book into the hands of as many people as possible. His agent wouldn’t have told him to try independent publishing if he didn’t believe it had merit. Harrison took this confidence in his work to heart and began taking all the steps toward self-publishing. The fact that Daryl Harrison kept at his project and didn’t let some rejection keep him from printing his book himself is a testament to who Harrison is as a person and who he is as a writer. Harrison’s prose shows the tenacity of a man who works hard to craft the perfect story for his readers to enjoy. Harrison drew inspiration from the anxiety he felt leading up to his wedding night, when he married Abby. The pressure coming from all sides led him to the anxiety that his main character felt in his novel. For more details visit at : -
