Cohn worked hard to benefit the office as an individual employee and when places in a group project. Noting the inefficient traffic commute to work every day, Cohn recognized an opportunity for her office to capitalize on. Cohn and her time at the office brought in an electronic processing system that opened the office to telecommuting. This improved the work-life balance of the employees, as they no longer had to battle the traffic of the Metro Washington D.C. area on their daily commutes. A big win for her employees, but Cohn did not bring in the system only for the employees. With the integration of telecommunication, the office reduced the cost of operations. Being that Deborah Cohn was the Commissioner of Trademarks for the United States Patent and Trademark Office, she was over the budget of the office operations and thus another achievement was racked up for Cohn. Deborah Cohn retired from her service with the office in December 2014.
