"Raising capital helps companies grow, expand their operations, improve their financial performance and ultimately delivers shareholder value," he says. Efstathios N Karanikolaidis has duties beyond day-to-day operations. "I usually speak at the Marine Money conference every year about the state of the debt capital markets," he says. The debt capital markets, he explains, are a segment of the international financial markets. And Marine Money International has bridged the gap between ship owners and the shipping industry for many years. "The shipping sector has access to the high yield market – both on a secured and unsecured basis," Efstathios N Karanikolaidis told the Marine Money conference attendees in 2010. High yield, he went on, offered issuers such benefits as long-term fixed rate capital, no amortization until maturity, no maintenance covenants, higher Loan to Value rates than what were then available in the traditional bank market, and a large, liquid market where repeat issuance is common. He said that he and his colleagues at J.P. Morgan were then anticipating that more issuers would begin to tap in to the high yield market for their capital needs, as traditional shipping banks remains somewhat constrained in the amounts that they could lend to industry. As of 2010, he said, "J.P. Morgan has been the dominant high yield underwriter for 5 years in a row." Efstathios N Karanikolaidis earned his Master of Business Administration in 2002 from the William E Simon Graduate School of Business at the University of Rochester in New York, where he maintained a 3.73 Grade Point Average. At Simon, he was the Vice President of the Financial Management Association and also a member of the Simon Investment Club and the Simon Ambassadors. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and Business Administration from the Athens University of Economics and Business in Greece, where his 3.8 Grade Point Average put him in the top five percent of his class. He graduated in 1997. Efstathios N Karanikolaidis currently lives in Riverside, Greenwich, Connecticut. To get more in fromation about Efstathios N Karanikolaidis visit at
