Ian Renner of Cape Town - A Thrilled Member of the Los Angeles Arts Community Ian Renner of Cape Town couldn’t have been more excited upon his move to Los Angeles. Having moved to the area at the age of thirty to seek out his dream of becoming an actor, he still takes the time to marvel at his surroundings. He is incredibly grateful for the opportunities that he has been given, having started out in Hollywood as an unpaid intern for a set design company. He was made aware of the position by his former roommate, and from there, his career shot him into an incredible amount of success in the industry. Though he is a highly successful member of his community, Ian Renner of Cape Town still takes time out of his daily life to support local artists in the Los Angeles area in one way or another. He deeply believes that when you circulate in a community of artists that it is of the utmost importance that everyone feels taken care of. When he moved to Los Angeles, he formed a wonderful group of friends who helped him during a period of time when he was trying desperately to break into acting. Though his acting career didn’t take off the way that he’d planned, his support system in the arts community encouraged him to continue looking for his niche. The goings were tough at first. He worked at a nearby Wendy’s simply to make ends meet while he completed his internship, but he continued to deepen his love for the arts in the Los Angeles community. Though he barely had enough money to make rent, he still made it a priority to attend films, art gallery shows, street performances, Broadway performances, and more when he was able to scrape together a few pennies and a little extra time. Ian Renner of Cape Town has shared that had it not been for the supportive community who kept him inspired to continue in Hollywood, he’s not sure where he would have ended up. When he quit his job at his father’s investment firm in South Africa, he felt a feeling of freedom and lightness that he has maintained in Los Angeles, even through difficult times. He shares that what led him to utterly disrupt the life path that had been set out for him is deeper than courage. It was the drive and need for creativity in his life. Ten years ago, he had no idea that he would find such success and happiness in the United States, and he wouldn’t trade it for anything.
