Jason Fond: Leader in Orthopedic Surgery Jason Fond is the Director of Orthopedic Surgery for Nyack Hospital in Nyack, New York. He earned this post in 2007 after working in the community of Rockland County, New York for years helping people recover from musculoskeletal injuries, diseases, and conditions. Dr. Fond previously worked as a trainer for several professional sports teams and colleges until he formed his own private practice in Rockland County, Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. In 2014, Dr. Fond became the President of Medical Staff at Nyack Hospital in addition to his duties as the Director of Orthopedic Surgery. That same year, he also formed another private practice with a few other physicians in the area called Northeast Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, a merging of his and several other private practices in the community. Jason Fond made a point early in his career to always treat all patients with the respect they deserved. This meant he worked on his jokes and improved his bedside manners so that his patients would be more relaxed and receptive to critical information. Dr. Fond also believes in suggesting treatments that carry less risk before moving right to heavy medication or surgery. Although Dr. Fond has performed thousands of successful surgeries on thousands of patients, some of them professional and Olympic athletes who have since returned to the sports they love, he believes that treatments that carry less risk for patients should be ruled out first before any talk of surgery or medication begins. Jason Fond knows that some people have an aversion to surgery and want to avoid it whenever possible. He obliges them whenever possible by asking for their input and offering his expert opinion. While some physicians push surgery as the only option, Dr. Fond knows that patients respond better when they are involved in the medical decisions than when they are given a pitch. Jason Fond, as a leader for Nyack Hospital, sees it as part of his job to promote patient safety and care by working closely with each patient individually to craft the best treatment plan for them. Over the years, he has developed a reputation for being affable, funny, and caring with all of his patients, no matter what their ailments or backgrounds. Dr. Fond has been developing his bedside manner skills so that all of his patients know exactly what they’re getting from him and are comfortable at all times. He hopes to help many more people in the years to come.
