Meir Panim - Hope for the People of Israel American Friends of Meir Panim is a nonprofit organization that is devoted to the needy people of Israel. Stricken by a poverty crisis, the needy of Israel are in desperate need of relief.

According to the most recent information gathered by Israel’s National Insurance Institute, a staggering total of 1,658,200 people are currently living under what is considered the poverty line.

Perhaps even more staggering is that within that number, a total of 756,900 are children! This is the overall problem that the American Friends of Meir Panim has tasked itself with addressing.

In order to respond to this problem, Meir Panim has developed a number of immediate relief solutions, along with solutions designed to break the needy out of the cycle of poverty. They have a number of foods and social programs that help alleviate the immediate effects of poverty such as hunger or sickness, and also vocational training programs that are meant to reintroduce impoverished citizens back to the working community. It is through these efforts that the organization has been able to help thousands of people get out of poverty and become productive members of Israeli society once again.

For over a decade, American Friends of Meir Panim has successfully helped thousands of people stricken by poverty in Israel. They continue to offer a wealth of services to all people in need of better circumstances and life changing opportunities. Meir Panim is especially devoted to helping children who do not have the ability to help themselves. Due to the inability of most impoverished families to provide enough food, children often go to school hungry, stay hungry throughout the day, and go to sleep hungry at night. Through their Meals for Children program, the organization is able to provide hot and nutritious lunches for children on a daily basis.

However, Meals for Children isn’t the only program offered by Meir Panim. They also provide individuals the opportunity to learn vocational skills that will eventually help them reenter the work force, and after school programs for youth in order to keep them away from the bad influences in their environment. Due to the involvement of the organization, many of the youth considered to be at risk are now on a path to becoming highly productive individuals within Israeli society.
