Steve Misencik – Telecommunications Career Man Steve Misencik is the Director of Global Network Infrastructure Planning for Verizon. He handles network and technology planning and directs the direction of Verizon's Optical Mesh, IP and MPLS networks. He has spent 25 years with Verizon, largely in leadership roles in the Network Planning and Engineering Department. He handles the design, planning, and deployment of the world's most advanced and largest facilities-based networks, spanning over 2,600 cities in 150 different countries. Additionally, he led Regional Access Planning teams in Canada, Mexico, and various countries in South America. Steve Misencik was born Landstuhl in what was then West Germany. His father was a career military officer, who spent 30 years serving his country. He is the youngest of eight children, which includes five sisters and two brothers. By the second grade, his family moved to Lake Ridge, Virginia where he grew up and eventually attended high school. He received an athletics scholarship in soccer out of high school and attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems. After graduation in 1990, Steve Misencik, moved to Dallas, Texas where he met his wife. They are the proud parents of two daughters. His first job out of college was with MCI, a subsidiary of Verizon, where he began as an assistant traffic engineer. He eventually climbed the ranks through MCI and became an Executive/Director. He also worked for WorldCom and MCI/WorldCom. His experience in the telecommunications field has proven to be invaluable to Verizon as he has shown a knack for the telecommunications industry. In his free time, Steve Misencik enjoys being active. He enjoys running and has participated in 5K, 10K, and half marathon running events. Additionally he still plays soccer and enjoys resistance training. He has learned a lot about leading a healthy lifestyle and that translates into his healthy diet. His favorite food is seafood. When he isn't cooking or exercising, you will find him watching Virginia Tech Football. Because health has played such an important role in having a happy family and leading a productive career, he believes it is important to share the significance of health with children. He does this by coach youth sports teams in his local area. He one day hopes to make a meaningful and significant contribution to the health and wellness industry in addition to his current career in Telecommunications.
