The Benevolent Efforts of George Landegger George Landegger is a principal in the world of business and philanthropic efforts. He is known for his leadership across the world in his long and esteemed career in the world of forest products and an industry that is ever changing and evolving. He has always been an ambassador of his country, of himself, of the people that he represents and he recognizes this responsibility in all that he does. Over the years he has established 60 manufacturing facilities in 26 countries around the world. He has encountered some of the leading figures in the world of business, and the world of politics and in the world of investment. What he has done in the world of societal impact is just as important as all that he has done professionally. This man has a true sense of social impact and leaving a legacy that affects people in a positive way. For many years he has contributed to and been a significant supporter of a variety of charitable efforts through many channels. For example, since 2007, he has been the principal supporter of the Rise Program of which is an annual dinner which helps in educating 60 learningdisabled children in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He has provided over 1 million meals a year to kitchens and church programs in the Florida Panhandle. It feeds 650 families a week in Monroeville, Alabama since 2008. As economic conditions have improved, that figure has come down to 200 each week which is a sign that the program is reaching out to the right people when they needed. The program also reaches out to 200 families each month in Ridgefield, Connecticut and provides meals for families in need there. In 1987, he founded and has continued to be the primary supporter for a home that is dedicated to assisting unwed mothers in Bangalore, India. This home helps impoverish women give birth and teaches them a viable trade. He is currently constructing a home and sanctuary for rape victims in that same city. He is also the founder of a school in central Pakistan that serves kindergarten through 12th grade students there. It has the distinctive statistic of having a 50% female student body, which is remarkable in that country. He named the school after his daughter Justine, who is one of his five children. He has had to refrain from using her last name as she is currently working in Pakistan taking care of refugees and the reality of reprisal is a distinct possibility. The list of contributions to society that he has made continues to mount year-by-year, but more importantly the impact that he has on the lives of others continues to grow.
