The Steps Towards A Career in Sports Broadcasting Sports broadcasting is very unique and highly specialized compared to other forms of broadcasting. You not only need the necessary education, but need to find a place to both learn and hone your broadcasting skills. Due to the highly specialized nature of sports broadcasting, it's preferable if the person has a love for sports and possibly played sports in the past. With that being the case, Samuel Holz has trained much of his life for career in sports broadcasting. Samuel Holz was most recently a student at the University of Colorado in Boulder where he majored in Communication. He also chose to minor in Political Science. Since he was a little boy, Samuel Holz has been interested in the field of communication, particularly as it relates to sports reporting. Samuel Holz also benefitted from an entire year of journalism education at the University of Missouri School of Journalism. While at the University of Colorado, Samuel Holz has maintained a position as a student manager for the Colorado basketball team for the past 3 years. During his first year working with the team, they had their first year in the PAC-12 conference, and they won the PAC-12 tournament Championship. While on staff, Samuel Holz experienced 3 more consecutive NCAA appearances with the team. He loves the team sport environment and credits it for much of his personal success. Samuel Holz hopes to use his experiences as both a sports reporter and sports team leader to excel in his Journalism career. During his time at the University of Missouri, he conducted interviews and covered many of the university’s sports teams. He also did background research for MUTV’s stories, and acted as an editor for the station. Samuel Holz is passionate about sports reporting and loved bringing that news to fellow students. He pursued an education in journalism. Samuel Holz love of sports started off at an early age with basketball. It's been a central point of focus throughout his life. During high school, he was the team captain and led his school multiple conferences and playoffs. Samuel Holz's team even went on to win The Metro League championship conference and made the playoffs for a separate tournament as well. He left high school with not only a decorated career in basketball, but also a great leadership ability. He has used the ability to propel him further both academically and personally.
