William Acker of Miami University’s Many Interests
William Acker of Miami University is an individual who exemplifies all of the characteristics of a future success. He is ambitious, smart and determined to climb to the top of any ladder that’s put in front of him. Throughout his life he has maintained many hobbies and interests, all of which have come handy in his professional and personal lives. Below, William Acker shares the things he enjoys most, and how they have impacted his life in the long term. Golf Golf was one of William’s first defined passions. His dad taught him the sport at the age of 10, and he was instantly hooked. He played competitively throughout high school and even a little bit throughout college, however now he just plays for leisure and the occasional charity event. Running Right around the same time that he had discovered golf, young William still had plenty of energy that needed to be released; and he could no longer accommodate the schedule of any sports team. Instead he took up running on his own an activity that has helped him keep incredible shape throughout the years. Now, he uses one of his favorite hobbies as a way to give back to his community by running in marathons and other races for charity. Jeeps William got his first Wrangler when he was 18; and while he eventually wrecked it on the trails, he had gained a sense of identity with the Jeep brand, not to mention the camaraderie he gained with his fellow off-roaders further assured his loyalty to Jeeps. He bought a bused CJ7 and rebuilt the whole thing from scratch. Now, he can be seen blazing the trails of Florida every weekend in his most prized possession. History History was always William’s favorite subject in school. He got his associate’s degree in history before deciding to pursue business; however he still keeps his archive of facts handy for any comparison or relevant story. He also reads one to two history books each month, and is a frequent viewer of Jeopardy and The History Channel. Outreach Despite his own professional endeavors and his hobbies, William Acker still finds time to give back to his community. He has helped homeless populations through a soup kitchen distribution program, and he also runs and competes in golf tournaments for charity. William Acker believes the quality of life of an area is best defined by those who get the worst of it, which is why he helps the homeless to improve his own neighborhood.
