...there is only ONE High March!
Many parents will want to visit High March before deciding to register their child and the Headmistress is always pleased to meet with prospective parents and to arrange for them to have a tour of the School. Appointments are made by the Registrar who can be contacted on 01494 685743 or by emailing admissions@highmarch.co.uk
Parents who wish their child to be considered for entry are asked to complete the School’s registration form. A place will then be offered subject to the payment of the registration fee and a place being available. Should the form lists be full, the child’s name will be placed on our waiting list and parents will be contacted should a place become available.
The earliest date of admission into the Nursery is the September after pupils attain three years of age. Girls automatically move into the Reception class in the September before they attain five years of age. It is expected that all girls will continue the next phase of their education at High March by entering Reception. The School reserves the right to decline registration into Nursery of any sibling of a pupil who has previously left High March without continuing into Reception and continuing through to Year 6. A limited number of boys are admitted into the Nursery in the September after they attain the age of three, for one year only.
From Reception onwards there are two parallel mixed ability classes. There is a small intake of girls into the Reception year. Places are offered on a “first come, first served” basis, hence early registration is recommended.
Prospective pupils are invited to spend a day with their future class to familiarise themselves with the School. No formal assessment is undertaken, but parents are asked to submit a report from the child’s former school and a confidential reference may be sought from the Head Teacher of that school.
Prospective pupils are invited to spend a day with their future cohort prior to the offer of a place. An assessment in key areas will be made to ensure that the child will be able to benefit from the curriculum and teaching offered at High March. Parents are asked to submit their daughter’s most recent school report and a confidential reference will be sought from the Head Teacher of her current school.

Buckinghamshire County Eleven Plus Transfer Tests
Girls leave High March at the age of 11 to begin their secondary education at a wide range of senior schools. In their final year with us the majority of pupils take the Buckinghamshire County 11+ examinations for entry into the local state grammar schools. In the academic year 2022 to 2023 67% of Year 6 pupils entering the 11+ test secured places at Buckinghamshire Grammar Schools.
Entrance Examinations and Scholarships for Independent Senior Schools at 11+
We believe that it is important to offer the girls and their parents a wide range of choices at 11 and so the majority of girls will take both the Buckinghamshire County 11+ examinations and entrance examinations for a variety of independent Senior Schools, both boarding and day. The 11+ Common Entrance syllabus is taught in English, Mathematics and Science and this equips the girls for any of the entrance examinations set by the Senior School of their choice. Girls are also prepared for scholarship examinations and the School is very proud of its success rate in academic, drama, music, sport, art and all rounder scholarships.
In the academic year 2022 to 2023 five scholarships and exhibitions were awarded to High March pupils:

1.1 The Registration Form, the Prospectus, the High March Key Information Booklet incorporating the schedule of fees, the Parental Consent and Contact Details form and our School Regulations constitute the terms of the contract between parents of a High March pupil or prospective pupil and High March (“the School”).
1.2 By signing the Registration Form, each parent or guardian of the child named on the form acknowledges that he or she is bound by the Parent Contract and has entire Parental Responsibility for the child and is, for all relevant legal purposes, the child’s parent or guardian. In doing so each parent or guardian assumes joint and several liability for the terms set out herein, including payment of fees and fees in lieu of notice.
1.3 The School will be entitled to treat any communications from any person who has signed the Registration Form as having been given on behalf of either and/or both signatories of the form. Unless any other arrangement is made in writing between either of such persons and the Headmistress, the School shall be entitled to treat any communication from the School to any such person as having been made to both of them.
1.4 Where two people have signed the Registration Form, one person may withdraw from the contract with the School by submitting a term’s notice in writing of intention so to do, provided he or she has obtained and produced the prior written consent of both the School and the other party whose name appears on the Registration Form.
1.5 An offer of a place for a child at the School is accepted, together with the terms of this contract, by completion and return of the Registration Form and payment of the deposit in the full amount requested by the School.
1.6 The Parent Contract, the Regulations, the documents in 1.1 above, and in particular the schedule of fees, are subject to variation from time to time.
1.7 Those persons with Parental Responsibility are entitled to receive relevant information concerning their child unless a court order has been made to the contrary or there are other reasons which in the reasonable opinion of the Headmistress justify withholding information to safeguard the best interests and welfare of the child.
A non-refundable registration fee of £100 is due on registration. A deposit of £750 is payable within two weeks of the School’s request if a child’s place is to be guaranteed. Once a place is offered and accepted the deposit becomes non-refundable but will be set against the final term’s fees and credited without interest when a child leaves the School.
3.1 Each person who has signed the Registration Form will remain liable for all the fees, any optional subjects and any supplemental charges.
3.2 A full term’s notice, to commence no later than the first day of each term, of the intention to withdraw a child must be given to the Headmistress in writing. This provision applies equally if a parent withdraws or cancels the place accepted less than a term before the agreed entry date.
3.3 In the event of a parent not providing such full term’s notice as detailed in 3.2 above, a full term’s fees in lieu of notice will become immediately due and owing to the School as a debt.
3.4 Fees are payable in advance and are due not later than the first day of term. An administration fee of £100 will be debited to all accounts remaining unpaid after the end of the first week of term.
3.5 A full term’s notice to commence no later than the first day of each term must be given in writing in the case of an optional subject being discontinued. Failure to do so may result in a full term’s fees being charged.
3.6 An agreement between one or both persons who have signed the Registration Form and a third party (such as an employer or grandparent} does not release either or both of those persons from liability to pay all or any of the fees should that third party default in payment. The School reserves the right to decline a payment from a third party.
3.7 School fees are reviewed annually and are subject to increase from time to time. The School will provide to parents a full term’s written notice of any such increase.
3.8 Parents, or each person who has signed the Registration Form, consent to the School making enquires of the child’s previous school(s) for confirmation that all sums due and owing to such school(s) have been paid. Parents, or each person who has signed the Registration Form also consent to the School informing any other school to which the child transfers that fees remain unpaid. This clause applies notwithstanding UK GDPR and the provisions of the DPA 2018.
3.9 The School reserves the right to require parents to withdraw their child, if, in the reasonable opinion of the Headmistress, the child is not benefiting from the education offered at the School. The Headmistress retains ultimate discretion in this respect.
A non-refundable registration fee of £100 is due on registration. If a place is to be guaranteed, the deposit of £750, to be set against the final term’s fees and to be paid to the School within two weeks of request, is due approximately one year before entry or following registration if the place is to be taken up in less than one year. Please note that the deposit is non refundable if a place is not taken up. A full term’s notice, to commence no later than the first day of each term, must be given of the intention to decline a place, failing which a term’s fees will be charged in lieu of notice.
