SUBIACO SQUARE symbolise the delicateness of Subiaco,a place to create a strong community Location Type Client Directed
Subiaco Square Urban Square, 9600sqm City of Subiaco Hans Orleamans, UWA
The City of Subiaco Action Plan has set up a brief to make Subiaco Square a real heart of the Town Centre. A spatial character analysis, concept plan, cost estimate and construction documentation were prepared throughout the semester.
The design concept is derived from the 20x10m residential block scale in Subiaco, which were replicated throughout the Square, in order to create the sense of delicateness, provide users a friendly, comfortable space to stay.
I challenged myself on the thinking of landscape, to extend from horizontal surface to the vertical. As the Square space was limited, vertical structures provide conversation and vibrance to the Square. In addition, the $8.2 million budget was critical when it came to decide which design elements would perform the best outcome for this project.

Hastings Park is a pocket park located in the City of Wanneroo, completed in 2016. The site was surrounded by a future subdivisional development targeting small size/young family, an early learning centre and a primary school. A nature play park was proposed. The design layout was derived by the existing site contour and vegetation.
