Meet Susie Lau What started as a “rebellion against her parents has now become a way of life for fashion blogger Susanna Lau (aka Susie Bubble)

S
usie Lau is a British fashion blogger whose blog has become one of the most successful and widely recognized since 2006. Her family comes from Hong Kong but she was born in the United Kingdom. Studied History at the University College London and not journalism or fashion design.
Her blog started in March 2006. By 2010 she was attracting tens of thousands of daily visitors with 300,000 users per month. In March 2010 she left her role as a commissioning editor of DazedDigital.com in order to focus on blogging full-time. Her twitter account made 69th place in The Independent’s 2012 twitter 100 list where she was called “the self-made queen of independent UK fashion blogging”. Her followers increased from 151,000 to 214,000 in 2013. Followers include fashion designers Christopher Kane and Nanette Lepore who told New York Times in 2010 that she showed “fun approach that is at the same time realistic”. She has become an occasional consultant and freelance writer, who stated that 65% of her income came from special projects such as Gap, Dr. Martens, Amran and Selfridges, the department store. In 2014 Susie was one of the first bloggers to be asked by the Fashion Museum to select an outfit to reflect 2013 for their Dress of the Year collection. She chose a pink dress by the 2013 designer of the year Christopher Kane that had lace and graffer tape and used a hat by Nasir Mazhar. INFINITY performed an interview for Susie to make us understand her inspiration and what made her motivated to be where she is now. We asked a several of questions. We started asking her what was she more excited about London fashion week. She said that all of it that London was everything for her. Stating that New York has a lot of commercial clothes that will sell but don’t necessarily have a lot of personality, but for London is all about character, creativity and experimental aesthetics. “Ah, this is home and it’s so good”.
“I still see myself as an interloper” We also asked her how it felt to be in front row for most of the fashion weeks. She said it becomes a symbol of power or glamour or status. You get your picture taken and industry players are looking at you. Within the British press, there’s a lot more camaraderie. “We all chat and get along, which is a nich when you’re n the road for a month”. She also stated that she doesn’t like head-to-toe looks. When you go to Chanel, there’s invariably hundreds of people in Chanel suits. Its kind of fangirly. Most of all the clothing that Susie has about 20% is stuff she’s been given her or lended to her. She said that most of all the people overestimate the amount of freebies they get but they underestimate the amount of shopping we do. Although sometimes we get discounts she says. We asked her to describe her style and she stated that she is very eclectic and a mix up of different styles and colors, print and enjoys trying new things. She wears a lot of JW Anderson and Christopher Kane. In terms of young designers she loves Anthony Vaccarello which is based in Paris and Ryan Lo on London. Her favorite item right now is a bright orange faux-fur coat which is pretty pimpim she said. She wore it a lot in New York because it is very warm. To end with we asked her some on style tips for this upcoming Spring /Summer is lots of reflective fabric and sheeny, shiny metallics and pleated skirts too. Stating that there is going to be a lot of that on the high street. She also added artinspired prints, abstract patterns and bold graphics.

STATEMENT EYES It’s not quite blue, and it’s not really green — it’s somewhere in between! Teal is going to be big this Summer, whether you’re an all-over the lid or a just along the waterline kinda girl. In London Fashion week, the bright blue eyes took center stage at Elie Saab where makeup expert Tom Pecheux using MAC layered different azure shades top and bottom. To achieve this look for a better price at $23.95 we have L’Oréal Paris Eyeshadow.
TIPS: For a teal-smoked eyeshadow look that defines your eyes, that would look great on a hot summer night out. Using a quad, like L’Oréal Paris Color Riche Quad 4-in-1 Eyeshadow in Emerald Conquest. 1. Take the middle shades and blend over the lid. 2. Take the highlight yellow shade to the inner corners of your eyes 3. Then place the deepest shades on the outer corners of your eyes. 34

DEEP RED-LIP REVIVAL
WEAR LIPSTICK AS EYESHADOW
From New York Fashion Week, all the way to London we have seen the revival of the “rich, plump effect.” Back stage the makeup played alot with texture, by manipulating the way light hits the models lips. This techniques creates a enlarge lips for a very sensual aesthetic. We have the scope on how to achieve this new summer trend, while saving a few in your wallet.

are no hard-and-fast rules to how a product should be used. So why not use lipstick as eye shadow. (yes, you read that right). While Peter Som was thinking outside the box, his models wore bright red-orange pigment under their eyes. But to get the look at home, I have a couple choices here you could pick from. Platinum Blonde Natural blondes might want to take notes from models such as Jessica Hart or May Jagger. They should opt for a dirty blonde appearance with a bed head look to it. You’ll achieve this by weaving the softer highlights among the darker tones that look more natural. You should wear these long, loose and with a lot of treatment that will ensure the required freshness and glossiness of your blond hair. Platinum blonde is a “notice me” color as always.
LEST PLAY WITH COLOR THIS SEASON 46
Brown Hair It’s a tempting choice to embrace the dark side that is more than lust-worthy. For this spring different color hues of deep ebony or a warm mocha, au naturel or dip dye, the most stunning dark brown shades are yours to explore.
47
Why Are Women Chopping Off Their Hair?
48
BEHIND SHORT HAIR Does the chopping off of our locks have more to do with being fashionably cool, or does it have a hidden subliminal meaning and message behind. Or are we constantly getting over something, or somebody? Whatever the case my money’s on the new spring and summer trend. A lot of questions come up, like: Does short hair fit any face shape? The answer is YES - this is coming stylists of five years. This short hair trend it’s just a matter of finding the right short cut for your face shape, and finding the features you want to enhance and focus on those (great eyes and eyebrows, cheek-bones, lips, neck). Short hair is not just one hairstyle. Short hair can be chopped, slicked back, with bangs, asymmetrical, curly, straight, wavy, side or back shaved, head shaved, pixie cut, and most of the times… it requires more styling, than long hair. Short hair can look anyway you wish, from professional to wild, to chic or sophisticated – but do all these things translate beyond our heads and minds, or is the SHORT HAIR TREND this season you’ll be the judge.

The Cat & Mutton pub has been well known for almost 300 years on Broadway Market. Although it might have closed during this year, it’s now reopened. Tom Gibson is currently the new owner of The Cat & Mutton restaurant. When renovating the pub to a restaurant, he was inspired by London’s vintage styles. Gibson’s feelings on owning a restaurant states, “Its worth for the tourists to have a meal, not just for food, meanwhile looking at all the new décor inspired of retro elements”.

The Cat & Mutton If you’re in the groove for retro London, the Cat & Mutton is a recommend place to grab a drink or meal. Located on the corner of London Fields & Broadway market, the Cat & Mutton was a traditional east London pub for those who came to eat, drink & be merry. Entertainment
The downstairs and interior décor contain a traditional boozer, which means “ vintage enameled mirrors”. You also can see an oak bar that stretches the length of the room. If there was one thing Gibson did not replace on the menu, it was the beers available. You can still fine all the traditional pub flavors of draft ales and beers on tap. Meanwhile, upstairs you’ll find another bar area that was renamed, “little sister of Ruby’s”. The look of this room is filled with tin ceilings, salvaged furniture, and vintage glassware. If you would like to have a little drink, there are several cocktails you must have to try. “Pearly Queen” - a lychee and lemon grass infused take on a Peña Colada and “ Alfred’s Porter”- a mixture of cognac, port, oyster sauce and honey. In addition, The Cat & Mutton offers delicious foods on both floors. Recommend items on the menu: Oyster (fresh or smoked); Burnt broccoli, yoghurt, pickled mustard seeds; Pulled pork roll, American cheese, coleslaw; and a Bucket of mutton chops.
