To be modern is not a fashion, it is a state. It is necessary to understand history, and he who understands history knows how to find continuity between that which was, that which is, and that which will be. -Le Corbusier -

I just received my associate degree of space design from Lycée Pierre Simon de Laplace, in Caen Normandy, France. By bringing and presenting my culture from Indonesia and got a lot of good influences from France, I can discover how many references of both cultures (bi-cultural). I have an ambition to acquire the concept of architecture by combining the techniques which i learned in Europe along with a value of local vernacular architecture in indonesia. With the purpose of harmony between both cultures will be reflected by the modern society with a traditional personality that still refers to cultural value.

In November 2016, the community of Normandy MusĂŠomix held its first marathon at the Archaeological Museum of Vieux-la-Romaine (near Caen). The main program of this project is the installation a space to co-working and relaxing spaces for MusĂŠomixeurs.

BRIEF

I

25

CONTEXT Museomix moved into a Museum for three days. They are working on a mediation tool that others a different view of their collections. The museum lives by the intensity of a creative marathon rhythm that gathers di#erent skills to design and create prototype objects or devices to be tested by the public. This event was held in the workshop space as a work area and a cafeteria becomes recreation area during a break. In this event, there are ve groups where one group consists of ve people. The event lasted intensively for three days, so the budget should be managed as well as possible so that it’s not too much.

CONCEPT PHILOSOPHY This temporary event only lasted 3 days. The installation is divided into 5 workspaces for the group and ane proper space for the organizer by prioritizing the Center-Decenter (movement between participants and organizers) and setting up the organizer’s space in the center. The design was made with the structure of the interior tent with a combination of red color that referenced from the identity of Roman civilization, and the yellow color which is the identity of the Museomix. Selected materials that I used are some items that already exist in the museum to reduce the budget.

The “Boreales festival is an event that introduces the culture of the Nordic countries. At this time the contemporary design of Estonia is the theme of this festival.

48

l

PLAN EXISTING

The exhibition will be held in Salle des Abbesses (l’abbayye aux damme). Since 1986, the room was used as an exhibition venue. We can also find natural elements of traditional properties such as the wall material of this place.

CONTEXT OF PROJECT

I

CONCEPT Along with the landscapes of the beautiful islands of Estonia, the bogs take up the entire surface of the country and become a valuable treasure for Estonia. Estonia is the second place in the world, which was preceded by Finland and followed by Canada. Since many Central European countries have almost destroyed their bogs, they are now working hard to restore it. So I took advantage of this organic shape into the installation space exposition. In addition, this concept has a strong representation to show to other countries to keep their natural wealth.

MOODBOARD & COLOR PALETTE

PROGRAM Gives an extension to visitors to explore the exhibition Create small islands Give the identity of each design objects. References to something absent in the showroom.

MAIN PROGRAM

I

53

- The organic shape of the bogs surface creates random small islands, I use these small islands to identity every design to be exhibited, measure objects off from their size. - And the water that flows into the bogs serves as a limit for each object with a variety of characteristics for each object. - In addition, the rectangular structure on bridge will provide extensions so it can hold a reasonable amount of visitors.

Translucent concrete - Experience with moulding; mix materials, the process, the characteristic and property of different cement or concrete. - Change the property of the concrete; rigid, solid, hard. - Transparency diverts the concept of opaque (perforate the concrete). - For an experiment by putting an empty volume of the concrete, with different holes. - Feel the reflection of light. - The glue tube is integrated into the concrete.
