Objectives: 1. Clears unwanted data and temporary files. Clears cookies from browsers. Removes browser’s history. Find and remove duplicate files. Defrag the hard disk and arrange files in sequential order after cleaning.

2. Check and remove viruses, worms, trojan horses, hijackers and rootkits. Install free software such as Avira Anti-Virus, Spybot and Adaware to check and remove presence of viruses, worms, Trojans, hijackers and rootkits from system.

3. Learn how to partition hard disk into 2 or more separate partitions and store data in partitions other than C: drive in which Windows OS resides.
Free software to use : Partition Wizard Home edition.

Data Backup and System Backup a. Backup data onto USB thumb drive, USB
TrueSafe Personal Edition
external hard disk and other media such as CD or DVD.
Free software to use: Truesave Personal Edition or Fbackup.
b. Backup entire Windows Operating System in hard disk or external hard disk for restoration purpose in case Windows fails to start and function.
Free software to use : Macrium Reflect free edition.
c. In case Windows is able to start but operation is problematic, learn to use Windows built-in System Restore to restore to a previous properly working state.

5. Use Returnil : a) to protect and shield the entire Operating System against malware attack and corruption of system files b) to ensure when the PC restarts, the Windows Operating System is returned to its pristine state.
Download the free version of Returnil from the internet and install onto windows. Learn how to configure to suit different requirement for protection.
6. Revision of various topics covered Hands-on practice to further consolidate and put to effective use the various measures to optimize and maintain the PC system as an on-going discipline.
