Jumperfest 6/3/23

Recently, Memorial Park was jumping with activity with more than 1,000 people! Kids leaped for joy inside unique bounce houses for the first-ever Jumperfest! Hosted by Mayor Alex Vargas and sponsored by the Hawthorne Police Of ficers’ Association, this free event also included carnival games, hot dogs and popcorn. Mayor Vargas plans to make this an annual event with the goal to bring city of ficials, city staf f, and the community closer together

Rabies Clinic 6/3/23

More than 100 four-legged furry friends and their owners showed up at the low-cost rabies clinic hosted by Animal Control. The annual event was held at City Hall and has been happening for over two decades to give the community’s beloved pets af fordable vaccinations, microchipping and registrations. Dogs and cats underwent quick procedures – some pets were patient, others not so much – but they all left with everything they needed to stay safe and healthy

Rotary/Kiwanis Firefighter And Police Of ficer Of The Year 6/6/23

After a four-year hiatus, the Rotary and Kiwanis Hawthorne Police and Firefighter of the Year Luncheon was held at the Memorial Center. Los Angeles County Firefighter and Paramedic Nicholas Medina and Hawthorne Police Of ficer John Broc were awarded. Nicholas has served Hawthorne for seven years and spent time oversees aiding in the

Hammer HeaD Swim team

august 21, 2023 – December 15, 2023

Hawthorne Hammerheads is a year-round swim team It will foster the concepts of team and team building Members are required to have passed the "youth swimmers" class level to participate or after an assessment consisting of 4 laps (100 yards) freestyle, 4 laps (100 yards) of backstroke, and 2 laps (50 yards) of breaststroke . Must have prior approval by Hawthorne Pool staff from the assessment OR a class completion certificate from our summer program One Friday per month, both teams will have friendly race competitions, relays, and play water games
