USA 2019 93 mins Dir: Todd Douglas Miller Apollo 11 is a cinematic event fifty years in the making. Crafted from a newly discovered trove of 65mm footage and more than 11,000 hours of uncatalogued audio recordings, Apollo 11 goes straight to the heart of NASA’s most celebrated mission that first put men on the moon and forever made Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin household names. Immersed in the perspectives of the astronauts, the team in Mission Control and the millions of spectators on the ground, this is a vivid portrayal of the momentous hours in 1969 when humankind took a giant leap into the future.

Aniara

Blinded By The Light

Sweden/Denmark 2018 106 mins Dir: Pella Kågerman and Hugo Lilja

UK 2019 114 mins Dir: Gurinder Chadha

(S) Subtitled

Aniara charts the fate of humans after they have destroyed the planet. ‘Aniara’ is one of several ships launched into space to start anew on Mars and is designed to meet the needs of a species that has just consumed its birthplace. When an accident knocks the ship off course and disables its steering, the likelihood that these once optimistic colonizers will ever reach their destination gradually begins to wane. A caustic portrait of humanity’s capacity for self-delusion, self-abuse, and consumption. Based on the Pultizer Prize winning poem from Harry Martinson.

The latest feelgood film from director Gurinder Chadha (Bend it Like Beckham), is set in 1987 and interweaves Bruce Springsteen’s most iconic songs. From Badlands to Thunder Road this is an inspiring tribute to the power of music and a moving account of the generational and cultural divide between a father and son. The coming-of-age story follows music fanatic Javed, whose world is transformed when he discovers the illustrious back catalogue of The Boss. The lyrics which feel all too familiar to the aspirational teenager, yearning to escape his rundown hometown and the rules of his traditional Pakistani household.

Thursday 26th September at 7:00pm Encores: Sunday 29th September at 4:00pm & Monday 30th September at 7:00pm

The story of a family and a company that changed the world, told in three parts on a single evening. Academy Award-winner Sam Mendes (Skyfall,The Ferryman) directs Simon Russell Beale, Adam Godley and Ben Miles who play the Lehman Brothers, their sons and grandsons. On a cold September morning in 1844 a young man from Bavaria stands on a New York dockside, dreaming of a new life in the new world, he is joined by his two brothers and an American epic begins.

Featuring a Tony Awardwinning performance from host of the The Late Late Show, James Corden, the hilarious West End and Broadway hit One Man,Two Guvnors returns to cinemas. Fired from his skiffle band, Francis Henshall becomes minder to Roscoe Crabbe, a small time East End hood, now in Brighton to collect £6,000 from his fiancée’s dad. But Roscoe is really his sister Rachel posing as her own dead brother, who’s been killed by her boyfriend Stanley Stubbers.

Adapted from Andrea Levy’s Orange Prize-winning novel, Small Island embarks on a journey from Jamaica to Britain, through the Second World War to 1948 when HMT Empire Windrush docked at Tilbury. The play follows three intricately connected stories: Hortense yearns for a new life away from rural Jamaica, Gilbert dreams of becoming a lawyer and Queenie longs to escape her Lincolnshire roots.
