TECHNICAL DATA SHEET QUAKERCOAT® 547
TUBE AND PIPE PROTECTIVE COATING
QUAKERCOAT® 547 is a solvent-based, high solids coating intended for use as a decorative corrosion inhibiting coating on metal, particularly tube and pipe surfaces.
Benefits
Applications
igh solids technology results in greater coating • Hcoverage per gallon of product, thus reducing
Use standard air spray or airless spray equipment. Clean equipment with appropriate solvent while residue is still wet.
ostly surface corrosion is inhibited because of • Cinherent consistent film uniformity
Compatibility Quaker Houghton also provides the full range of fluids for the manufacture of tube & pipe. This includes coolants for forming and sawing, cleaning compounds and corrosion preventives for in-process and final corrosion protection. Consult your Quaker Houghton representative.
Health, Safety and Handling
applied coating costs
lean-up costs are minimized due to drying • Cproperties and minimal drain-off and drippage elatively low VOC content allows use in many • Rlocations where VOC limitations are stringent

TUBE AND PIPE PROTECTIVE COATING
Fluid Maintenance The following directions and recommendationsare intended to serve as a guide and may require modification to meet local conditions. Mixing: Mix as necessary to avoid separation. Thinning: Use as received. If conditions warrant thinning, use an appropriate solvent that is in compliance with local environmental regulations and specific requirements. Please note that the further addition of solvent will affect the VOC content of the product. The VOC content listed is solely for the product as received. Surface Preparation: The intended substrate must be clean and dry to accept the protective coating properly. Loose debris, dust, oil, or other contamination may degrade product effectiveness and performance. Cure Cycle: Air cure time will vary depending on the temperature, humidity, substrate temperature and wet film thickness. Dry time may be substantially reduced by increasing air flow and temperature across sprayed items or pre-heating the parts to be painted.
